I do not see Nestle in EFIV (ESG version of SPY) which is what I was leaning towards as my default set-and-forget buy.
>use some of the profits thus generated to attempt to make a positive impact on the world.
How is it any better for myself economically or the world ethically to, say, make $100 profit off of Nestle and then donate that $100 to a cause. I then made $0 and arguably didn't make any net impact on the world. Wouldn't it make more sense to just put my money somewhere else to begin with? That way, even if I don't donate my profits from a company that doesn't kill infants, I still made more money and a better impact on the world? Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you mean by donating the profits generated from unethical sources.
