Is it because of CAS that got introduced? Some glitch associated because of that?

100% agree. Retail traders keep getting sold the dream of a “fairer market,” but every new rule somehow ends up making life easier for institutions and harder for us.
First, they tell us it’s to stop manipulation. Then they introduce a mechanism where the final price can swing 2–3% in minutes, wreck MTF positions, trigger margin calls, and leave retailers with no chance to react.
The market has always been a playground for big money. CAS just feels like they’ve officially reserved the VIP section.

As per the new rules, FnO stocks regular trading will be stopped at 3:15 pm. But their CAS trading will be continued until 3:35 PM.
When I noticed the FnO stocks, trading stopped at 3:15 PM, but CAS wasn't available for me. Fno stocks and option premiums final prices are adjusted at 3:40 PM. But in the chart actual trading is stopped at 3:15 PM.
Examples: federal Bank was trading around 361 at 3:15 but its price is adjusted to 371 at 3:40 pm, pfc was trading at 416 at 3:15 PM but price adjusted to 421 at 3:40 PM.
Nifty and bank nifty rose 200 points and 400 points respectively in the last candle but their futures didn't rise. At the same time sensex down by 40 points. How is it possible sensex fell despite the rise in nifty and bank nifty?
How would a retailer know the movement after 3:15 PM?
At what price indices will be adjusted tomorrow by opening the market?

The simple answer is - It is not.
Forget trading it was anyways difficult, this CAS is pure manipulation which will let MFs benifit basically. So You gonna see these things from now on -
The day SIP inflow is huge, the CAS will push the closing higher so you get fewer qty of funds.
The day when redemptions are more, CAS will pull the price down on closing so you withdraw less money.
Double whammy for retailers. I guess, MFs won't need to be dependent on exit load anymore. They'll make good arbitrage money with every inflow and outflow.
PS - I know you asked about MTF and I am commenting about MF

I’ve read multiple blogs, news articles, and even used AI to understand the new Closing Auction Session (CAS), but I’m still struggling to see how retail traders especially those holding MTF positions are supposed to manage this.
From my perspective, this change has significantly increased the risk for leveraged retail investors. A stock can move sharply during the closing auction, causing a sudden jump in MTM losses and forcing traders to add margin, even when the stock traded at a very different price just minutes earlier. 😭

No many scrips in nse shot by over 1% in the last minute but option priced didn’t move. As of now this CAS is more like colossal asswipe shite… until greater clarity is made by nse but looking at its track record it usually is poor. Also bse nse prices differ marginally, and there is a whole industry based on that. However the difference is never 1%

Actually, it has been proven by how this system works in Nasdaq, London, Hong kong exchange that CAS system makes it harder not easier for big players to collude and set a price.
In the previous method, you may have noticed multiple times some extreme price action in the last minute 3:29pm. Just look at this Infy 1min chart and volatile price action manipulated by big players in last 2 mins before results.

Now it is a 15 min window where all the big players will place the bids. Buyers and sellers will lead the equilibrium price, not 2-3 entities coordinating . It is much harder to do this kind of last minute shit.

Hmm,not sure, kotak neo already showing the profits based on closing price for Tmpv.
But since it' unrealised, they can change it,if they nullify this entire system. But would they ?
I'm not sure many apps already showing close price with new CAS prices.
It could be gift nifty, that' yet to Change?

this is mostly because of a large BUY market order, placed during the CAS, matching up with SELL orders placed by some people trying their luck at higher price

Below is the chrt of ICICI 1440CE option. Even though the CAS price went from 1446 to 1460, the CE opened lower not higher.

At 3:14, the atm option is at 28. After the pause, it opens at 3:31 , the option value is 27 even though the stock price was +14.
Did you even check the Options for the stocks? Which one got manipulated , link it to me.

Bajaj auto yes.
Yeah have to see how it goes, mostly the stocks went up with somewhat positive sentiment. But it go completely bad,if people places lots of sell order,i can't imagine how much a stock can fall.
But yeah vmap is good, but still the pre market sometimes can make the stock fall by more than 10 % anyway, based on the bad results, regardless of the previous close price, had bad experience with inox wind last quarter results and massive gap down in pre market, regardless of vmap previous closing price. Honestly the pre market and opening orders still decides the fate of swing traders (due to stop loss triggers) during unpredictable news timings, but this CAS now, will add more trouble now for swing trades.

My approach is to square off all F&O positions before the CAS window opens. (reason - Lack of a live underlying stock price, it a blind spot, implied volatility spikes and option premiums are mispriced. This unpredictability favors large players an its sadly a risk for us retailers.

Going by the way the CAS method turned out on its first day, I wonder if BSX and Bankex derivatives are safer for overnight positions. It doesn't seem like BSE levels are affected post 3.15pm.
And also, does that bring good news for the BSE stock?
