Firstly, In the earnings report IOVA said TILVANCE-301 pairs Amtagvi with Keytruda. it's building on Merck's drug, not fighting it. The real frontline competitors are BMS's nivo+ipi and Opdualag. So Merck isn't blocking Iovance. Merck could very easily buy IOVA, look at their M&A annoucencements
Your dosing framing is backwards here. RP1 (Tudriqev) is an intratumoral injection given every 3 weeks, indefinitely, and it only works on lesions you can physically inject so patients without accessible lesions aren't even candidates. Amtagvi is a one-time infusion. The lymphodepletion + IL-2 course you're calling "ongoing toxicity" is front-loaded once, not recurring.
So if anything it's RP1 that requires the indefinite ongoing treatment, not Amtagvi.
