I recently opened my first Fidelity account and was very surprised at how aggressive they were about trying to get my accounts under management. I’ve been a Vanguard customer for decades and they’ve never even pitched taking over my accounts. My “local” Fidelity rep called, left voicemails, texted AND emailed. I tried to opt out from contact online, but there isn’t a way to “unsubscribe” from this kind of pitch. I never engaged with the rep, and eventually they stopped, but it definitely left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
You won’t need an AMU advisor to help you with your retirement accounts, and anyone who is trying to convince you that you do doesn’t have your best interests at heart. Unfortunately, this means you and I both now have some of our money with a brokerage that doesn’t have our best interests at heart.
