Correction: you knew an attack was possible, just like everyone else did who watched the news. Ships simply going to Iran doesn't mean you "knew the US would attack". That's something you guessed right up until the moment it was announced (especially with Trump being known to change his mind).
Even if you use the ever popular method of tracking pizza orders to the Pentagon, that would only give you A. Ships are moved and B. A meeting is taking place. It doesn't tell you the outcome of said meeting.
Satellite images aren't anything new or secretive; if anything you're using old data (and if we want to be accurate about what you're doing, you're very likely using UAV imaging and not satellite imaging). You can do real-time vessel tracking on a Bloomberg with WSL SHIPPING, BMAP, and AHOY.
