I’ve been DCA-ing into a handful of stocks for a year or two now. I’m approaching some solid gains (20-40% across the board) and I’m slowly selling off all of my stock positions when they hit a target price.
Going all into the three ETFs I mentioned above. I’m 26 years old in a low cost of living Midwest city. I own a home and got a sweet COVID-era 3.4% mortgage rate in 2022. I have a very solid job and make a little over $100k/yr with salary and bonuses ($82.5k base salary).
I appreciate the gains I’ve made on positions on stocks like $SRAD, $TTD, $LRCX, $BAC and $CYBR but I just want a more “set it and forget it” approach to securing my future. I’m kind of tired of a daily regime of checking stock prices throughout the day every day and contemplating buying more or selling for a decent gain before hitting my target sale price. Thinking I’m making wrong moves. And of course, the risk involved with single stocks.
It’s not even that these things couldn’t be automated for me but I just have a compulsive personality. I’m no stranger to ETFs and I’ve been investing regularly into a few for a while. I think this move is going to ease my daily compulsion to read everything in these sectors and businesses, and stop me from feeling like I’m missing something right in front of me.
My new model: weekly contributions are going into 30% $SCHD, 30% $VOO, 30% $VGT, and for now, 10% $BITB .
PS: this is just my personal brokerage account. I have my own Roth IRA through my job that matches a portion of my weekly contributions.
