My understanding of crypto is that due to the blockchain and way the contracts are written, all transactions are final and you can't get it back once it is sent. I'd say it will probably be a lot easier to just hack NK and get those coins back.

I've been wondering for a while why he does this. I think it's because he is scared of them. He rolls out the red carpet for Putin and Xi because he is terrified of them. These guys may have something on him, but even that isn't necessary for him to just be afraid. He is scared of NK.. So, better not tell the truth about the reported heist... That would anger Un.. He would flee and leave us all out to dry in an absolute heart beat. I think that is exactly what we are seeing in Iran. He knows that he will not be around to pay the cost of his actions. I understand you. Unfortunately nothing is 100% risk free. It is possible reduce risk to near zero level but it can't be never absolute zero. This means that when certain conditions are met, the risk will be realized sooner or later. I think that this case proves that it's not smart to keep all "eggs" in one basket. If something happens to that "basket" then all "eggs" are lost. Yet your concerns are fully justified. But I think that from nothing all is just too much insecure. It's hard to trust everything even if hardware wallets are taken as most secure (recent incidents with Coldcard and Ledger+ raised concerns even about Trezor who announced a very serious statement about potential implant found in Trezor Safe 5)- We can probably witness about loss of trust in crypto world completely.Because if hot wallets are hackable, cold wallets are targeted and compromised then there's just nothing left. Even if it's true that NK was behind it all, trust is already lost. I don't have account on Binance (I am using Kraken) even I had I know that it's not good idea to hold larger sums of crypto on Exchanges. Just after buying on exchange for fiats, it's strongly advised to transfer purchased crypto directly to the cold wallet. This minimizes risks but certainly will not give 100% certainty of safety because as we know that it's possible to lose funds also on cold wallets.

Or it could be a way to transfer funds to NK without being investigated for sanctions

They're allies, to the point of NK sending tens of thousands of soldiers to fight for Russia against Ukraine. So it doesn't really matter.

The government deprives its own citizens from things like..phones, internet, and other basic necessities...they don't make it illegal to them, the NK government just makes everything unaffordable so they can't get it anyway..even if they can afford internet, there is a media dome over the country limiting what they can and can't see...same as Russia. They have internet..but their citizens only see what the Russian government allows them to see on it.

It's hard to believe that NK was behind it. NK was always taken and considered as developing country with a low level of development, where 1990s technology is still widely used. How, then, is such a country suddenly overnight become capable of using artificial intelligence to carry out "operations" like these? In NK there is still soviet-era public transport used even in aviation. Metro trains are from 1950's and so on.

Ich verdiene inflationsbereinigt weit mehr als alle mir bekannte Vorfahren, aber das (damals neuwertige) Haus, das mein Opa 1973 von einem Gehalt als Diplomkaufmann bei Kaufhof in Bestlage an der Bergstraße kaufen UND sich trotzdem zwei Autos, mehrere Urlaube pro Jahr, Reit- und Skistunden für die Töchter leisten konnte, ist mir heute verwehrt. Das ist nämlich stark renovierungsbedürftig und kostet trotzdem noch 900k. Bis das in vernünftigem Zustand ist, wie es damals war, bin ich mit NK bei locker 1,2 Mio Euro.

It's a problem and I do believe there have been defectors that lied or exaggerated what goes on in NK. But the interview on that podcast seemed legit. The North Korean math olympiad team placed 6th in the biggest international math competition, and that's crazy good. Any of those people would be smart enough to have a high flying career at a company outside NK and make tons of money. It doesn't add up that they would be staying in NK to try to steal bitcoins for the NK regime without some type of coercion. I guess we don't know their families are threatened but I've heard enough similar stories that I believe it.

No one is trusting the FBI. Every crypto expert is saying it's NK, and it's far easier to track crypto than it is to prevent hacks.

The problem is I don't believe the interview. Ever since Rogan had that 'NK defector' on I just fundamentally don't believe anything coming out of there good or bad. There's zero vetting the defectors and especially listening to presumably people talk about their takeaways from an interview I can't hear. I get that you can apply this logic to a lot of things and at some point "accept it or don't". I guess I have just come to the conclusion that I personally don't believe literally anything anyone else has to say and it would take me going and seeing for myself at this point.
