Yes. There is a case for growth stocks too.
The MF newsletter I subscribed to a long ago was called “Hidden Gems”, it looked at fast growers, usually small caps, and with extras, eg. The founder is still at the helm of the company or insiders own quite a bit of the shares, and sales is growing faster than the industry, and importantly it must be FCF positive. The high p/e was not to be feared.
What was interesting is that out of 5 or 6 stocks that I invested from the recommendations, three were meh (leapfrog, Mattel? And one or two more), one got bought out (buffalo wings BWLD) and the last one was a 10 bagger (jbt john bean tech).
But the grand daddy of growth investing was T Row Price.
John Neff’s was different, he was a low p/e investor and he stuck to his method of buying low and selling high, versus the other guys who bought high and sold higher.
