This time is different. Yup, I said the most expensive words in the english language. Long-term, (2-3 years+) the markets will be fine, of course. Trump can manipulate AI/algorithms with tweets, but his gaslighting cannot get a single drop of crude past the strait nor repair GCC or Russian oil/gas infrastructure set ablaze by Iran/Ukraine and requiring 12-36 months to repair.
Definitely bearish on the S&P7 for the immediate future, so I'm sticking to Canadian telcos (Bell/Rogers), and non-mortgage-exposed financials (Sunlife/Manulife/EQB) for the core part (90%) of the portfolios I manage, and oil/gas/helium for the higher-risk 10% and my own $.

Yup. Even if a full peace treaty was signed now and the strait was 'Completely Open Forever!' (agreed, lol), we have:
1) GCC infrastructure damage requiring months-to-years to repair
2) Russian supply offline requiring months-to-years to repair, and more being dismantled as we speak
3) Inventories already drawn down, so additional 2-4% (2-4mbpd) built-in demand to replenish stocks over 2-4 years
4) Gov'ts and commercial players will 'learn' from this shock and build more storage/stockpiles over 5-10 years, providing additional price-inelastic baseline demand.
