It gives almost that exact 3.56% avg inflation number.
When you check the inflation rate for other, developed and advanced economies on that same site:
- US (1936): 3.64
- UK (1955): 4.84
- JP (1955): 2.74
- DE (1955): 2.62
- FR (1955): 4.04
- SK (1965): 6.48
Canada is doing better than the US. Doing better than a number of other G7 countries. JP has its own issues with economic stagflation. And the countries that have lower annual inflation also have less data, with tracking only starting in 1955. Yeah, it may not have hit the target 2%. But compared to it's peers, its doing well. Other countries national banks have fumbled worse than BOC.
