I’m in the same situation as you all. Held AMRQ in my Wealthsimple account. I read online Computershare was the best to contact for this situation and a Manager told me the following: “They are currently holding your shares with a Canadian custodian electronically in CDS. I’m not sure what they mean when they say they can’t do anything … your shares are under their nominee.
If the position isn’t moved to the UK, they will receive a private certificate for all the Amaroq shares they are holding for their shareholders … they can’t just say “too bad, so sad” … unless you request that they withdrtaw your position of Amaroq and provide you with a DRS/physical certificate. But then please note that initiating the movement yourself will be time-consuming and costly, as it will require a stock power with a special stamp from a CDS Participating broker (onw of which happens to be the custodian who is currently holding your shares, so you will have to pay them for a stamp that they didn’t need to give you because they were already holding the shs).
I called Wealthsimple and notified them of this and they are now investigating further. Hoping this helps and would love if someone can help undertand the situation further.
