SuperRare is a network for artists and collectors to facilitate the creation, distribution, and curation of digital art pieces. The SuperRare network is comprised of the SuperRare protocol, DAO, RARE token, and other platform features such as SuperRare spaces. The protocol enables artists to tokenize their art via smart contracts to be sold on the SuperRare marketplace. The marketplace supports auctions and secondary markets allowing anyone to buy or sell SuperRare artworks. SuperRare spaces are digital art galleries used by curators or artists to issue, promote, and sell artwork or conduct auctions. The DAO oversees the treasury and platform features and is governed by RARE token holders with execution by the SuperRare Governance Council. SuperRare offers two separate options for artists to mint new NFTs. The first is through SuperRare's smart contract that issues fully-compliant ERC-721 tokens. SuperRare artists upload the media to the SuperRare mint flow and the SuperRare team facilitates the technical process of minting the new token. The second is through series smart contracts which artists can launch and own through the traditional SuperRare mint flow. Rather than mint tokens through the SuperRare contract, artists can customize their own. The marketplace contracts facilitate offers, price listings, and auctions. The tokens move through the marketplace contracts to facilitate transactions or escrows.
