The daily was pretty much always dead, even in bull runs, up until 2021.
[Here's a thread right in the middle of the 2017 bull run](https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/76helq/daily_general_discussion_october_15_2017/) - As you can see, 180 comments. No one cares. This is when Bitcoin was going crazy for arguably the first time ever.
It wasn't until Moons and 2021 that this place really went ballistic, partially because of Covid (everyone was inside and wanting to chat with one another) and partially because of the 2021 bull run. Wallstreetbets also took over here for a while with gamestop.
Those guys were mostly tourists though and just came to get involved in pump and dumps. They're mostly the people saying crypto is a scam now if you see them around because they only get involved when Crypto is skyrocketing and have no interest in buying when its down. They don't use crypto for anything so it's basically just a slot machine with extra steps.
No one here ever moved the price on Bitcoin, or ever really invested in Bitcoin in the first place. You can see from that thread that people want to buy Bitcoin Gold (lol), ARK, QTUM, SALT.
