I had a totally different conclusion to your start: BTC is captured.

Bitcoin is 17 years old now. All the use cases have been insufficient and all bitcoin is now is a store of value, and i don't think its doing a very good job at being that either. I think BTC is still way overvalued.

Not everyone with BTC wants to dump a huge amount through a bank and deal with 15 years of paperwork. For smaller real life spending, I use Oobit because I can spend crypto from my phone instead of turning every use case into a full cash out process

Help fund the next round of security fuzzing for Monero (MAGIC Monero Fund)
The MAGIC Monero Fund is in the midst of a big fundraising push to ensure we get our **second fuzzing project** across the line.
We're nearly halfway to our target amount after we have made a $10,000 donation to the fundraiser out of our general fund.
Monero is fast approaching perhaps its most important upgrade to date, Full-Chain Membership Proofs (FCMP), and continued collaboration with some of the best firms in the security ecosystem to ensure Monero remains resilient in the face potential crash and exploitation vectors is paramount. But we can't do it without you.
**Quick refresher on what fuzzing is:** Fuzzing is automated testing that throws immense volumes of random, malformed inputs at software to shake out bugs, crashes, and security vulnerabilities that humans often miss. Monero gets to run these security tests continuously for free through integration with OSS-Fuzz.
**Why this matters:** the [**first**](https://donate.magicgrants.org/monero/projects/fuzzing-monero-rpc) fuzzing project (finished last year) had ADA Logics build harnesses around Monero's RPC handlers. The result was RPC coverage went to 100%, and **three real vulnerabilities were found and fixed** in the code. Those harnesses keep running and catching new edge cases to this day.
The problem is that other sizable parts of the codebase have very little coverage:
\- wallet — 5.23%
\- common — 15.87%
\- p2p — 2.04%
\- fcmp++ — 0%
This round targets exactly those gaps (src/wallet, src/p2p, src/fcmp\_pp). Importantly we would like to have this project complete and in action before FCMP goes live on the network.
**Who's doing the work:** ADA Logics again, picked because of the high quality deliverables in our previous engagement. They're a specialized security firm in this field of work and their CEO David Korczynski is a top OSS-Fuzz contributor with a PhD from Oxford. ADA Logics has fuzzed projects like Docker, Ethereum, and Kubernetes (they previously discovered a critical Ethereum vuln, CVE-2020-28362). This project will span 3 months and the deliverables include open source fuzzing harnesses along with a publicly available, detailed, written report.
**Fundraising Goal:** Our goal is $50K, and we're about 43% funded so far (\~$22k across 90 donations). You can donate in XMR, BTC, LTC, and more.
**Contribute now help secure Monero:** https://donate.magicgrants.org/monero/projects/fuzzing-monero-2

I wanted no-KYC crypto payments for my shop and for a project I'm working on, so I built the processor. It's live [platypuspay.xyz](http://platypuspay.xyz)
I build custom GameCube controllers for competitive Smash players, and I wanted my shop to take crypto. Mainly XMR and ZEC but also BTC, ETH, LTC, and SOL. I'm working on another project that's going to need it also. Every processor I looked at skips Monero or Zcash, asks for my ID, or isn't built for an actual business to plug into a website.
So I built it for myself, and now it's open Monero, ZEC and the other main blockchains if you need them. My shop [benkosworkshop.com](http://benkosworkshop.com) also uses it now.
One script tag on your page. Customer gets a QR and a fresh subaddress, you get a signed webhook when it confirms. Automatic email confirmations go out to both of you, nothing to wire up. Signing up is a business name, an email and your payout address no ID, no company registration, no phone number. 0.25% per payment, nothing else.

Oh, God. This just reminded me of one of the bad habits I gave up to buy Bitcoin:
> Every time you want to waste $20 on junk, buy $20 of BTC instead.
Ugh... I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but... I used to buy lottery tickets. It was just a couple bucks, here and there, but it adds up.
When I committed to buying Bitcoin, I changed lots of little bad spending habits.

Since keeping up with more introduces risk I'd probably be pretty comfortable up to 5 BTC or so before adding another wallet

...we have a President of the United States (among other leaders) discussing BTC (and crypto generally) in a positive manner. While the original moniker is no longer a P2P project, it is clear that cryptocurrency is here to stay. One of the few aspects of the future that seem promising at the moment. Heck even AI will mine BTC as a profitable endeavor given the capacity to do almost anything. The 2000s have been an interesting time to be alive.

This isn't a great example to use. They're asking people who have ever "used" crypto. Not "used and still active".
Take me: I've used crypto in the past. I don't believe in it anymore, but still keep $1 in both BTC and ETH to track them. So technically, I'm still considered "in", but will not put another penny into it regardless of how high or low the price goes. But I would like to keep up with their general sentiment as it can shift what I would consider "genuine markets".
The last two years does deserve an asterisk with the amount of rug-pulling by...."certain people". I *am* interested to know how the next 10 years will play out and if the 4-year cycles will continue or if trajectory changes.

DCA monthly on the 15th into BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, HYPE, LINK, TAO, ZEC and RENDER $100 ea. Have a round-up on my checking account that I empty monthly to fund Doge - about $20-$30/month.

It is plausible, normal is subjective.
There are good comments about this but I'll go more in depth with an example:
There was a volband-gating strategy that worked well until 2024 for BTC before ETF shift. Vol seemed to be more tied to trending states so it preformed better than it's momentum ungated counter part. After 2024 the Vol-of-vol distribution didn't support prior bands for the strategy.
The alternative momentum strategy performed technically better in 2024 and onwards. If you just looked at final pnl and not rolling, you would of thought the vol band strategy was better overall 2020 all the way through 2026....It wasn't.
Know when your strategy doesn't work and what are alternatives that do work.
Not financial advice.
