Use BTC or XMR. Or stablecoins on a chain with low fees.

They provided a mix of mining pool and crypto trading/lending platform.
So many miners would actually just lend their BTC, ETH and whatever to poolin for interest. Was deemed okish as it was the biggest mining platform at the time, until pan gambled too much with borrowed money and lost lots of customer funds in the process ..

BTC is the only asset I have any conviction in for the long term. It’s a great time to buy right now. I’ve been DCA since it first dropped to 60K this year. Will be 250K sooner or later.

There's literally no difference between BTC and any other shitcoin beyond the fact that BTC was first and the hype hasnt fully died yet...

More than anything, BTC is sensitive to interest rates, while the Nasdaq currently swings with the mood around the AI story. I think this may be why the two have been diverging. There is a FED decision coming up on Wednesday. If they hold rates steady, bitcoin will rise.

My apologies, when you strictly measure from July '21-July '26, you are correct. But you're comparing to BTC after a ~45% drop. I was comparing to peaks. Sure, the return looks shitty when you measure from the BTC bottom when the S&P is bonkers right now. If you moved the dates to 1 year prior, BTC clearly outperforms.
> But given the risk investing in BTC, you should expect higher returns than a basic index fund
That would be my investment hope, yes. I don't own any BTC, only ETH ... but I see a similar return so far. It has not done well lately, despite huge technological upgrades and institutional adoption. I have no retort for this, it hasn't performed well. Damn near every measurable metric on ETH/Ethereum has been improving or going up, the price itself simply hasn't followed.

If you ever want to leave your country with your money I would keep it in BTC. Put it on a cold wallet if possible

Their initial press release mentioned that they are planning on adding support for more cryptocurrencies in the future. My guess is that the timeline will depend on how popular the initial rollout of ETH and BTC is.

It was harder to buy bitcoin back in 2009 than you think. No one wanted to sell it, and if you wanted to buy it, you’d probably have to pay a crazy amount, like $400 for 1500 BTC on eBay. I tried to buy 2500 BTC for $25 in the IRC channel back in 2009 and they kicked me out. Ever since then, I guess I’ve had a grudge against Bitcoin and have only spent it on drugs so far. I’m gonna finally start regularly buying it. But the days of a Lambo and mansion are pretty much over

> returns on BTC are rapidly diminishing
Nobody ever said it would be infinite returns. That is silly. That is a silly argument. With *any* asset, the most outsized gains will be when it is a new asset. Bitcoin's mcap is $1.303 Trillion ... it's not going to move like a small cap asset anymore,

Dca because who really has time to track the price and charts unless you're a full time trader.
We all got jobs, families, relationships, friends, day to day life to be present at.
In the end Im buying my BTC for the future me. 15-30 years time frame. It crashes 20-50% well good thing I don't need any of that value of BTC.

What do you mean by scam post? Lending no longer means sending your coins to some platform's wallet like Celsius. What's actually happening with the newer setups is your BTC sits in a vault secured by spend conditions written directly into Bitcoin script using Taproot. Nobody has your private key, the coins never move to a third party's balance sheet, and the conditions for how those coins can be spent, like what happens if a loan defaults, are enforced by the script itself, not by some company's internal ledger. That's a completely different trust model than old CeFi lending. Those blew up because you were trusting a company not to rehypothecate your funds or gamble with them behind the scenes, there was no way to verify what they were actually doing with your coins. With the on-chain vault approach, you can literally verify the conditions yourself, there's no black box. So do some reading yourself before replying blindly.

Even if it hasn't peaked, you can clearly see with your numbers that the returns on BTC are rapidly diminishing, to the point where it's 5 year return is now lower than VOO.

Hello... Does anyone know if Schwab intends to offer crypto besides the BTC and ETH they now do? Or, where I might look to find this information? I am interested in XRP as it is one of the more "major" coins they might be considering it. Thank You

I don't think there's anything wrong with tracking it. I'd separate tracking your finances from tracking the price, though knowing your total BTC, average cost, allocation, and how much youre putting in can be useful. Knowing that your position is down since yesterday doesnt tell you much.
If the spreadsheet helps you follow a plan, keep it. If opening it makes you want to change the plan every time Bitcoin moves, make it a habit to check less often.
You don't have to stop being analytical. You just need to decide which information actually changes a decision.

Then it’s a good thing the halving ist still 2 years away. Plenty of time for AI to cool off and when the block reward splits in half, hopefully the prospect of a BTC bull market sucks money back into the BTC ecosystem.
Once the bull gets going, money will inevitably come pouring in. Nobody wants to miss the chance of $200k BTC.
