Hey everyone,
I'm a solo developer and Bitcoin Maxi, and I built Compass after being frustrated with two things: my own spending habits and how other personal finance don't factor it in net worth/spending.
I've always seen USD as kinda worthless and I tend to spend it almost with ease versus when I see Bitcoin. Also, apps like Rocket Money didn't make it easy for me to truly track my Bitcoin holdings since you have to enter the value manually and with Bitcoin that number of course changes. I wanted something that allowed me to see the true value in BTC in my spending habits to help me slow down and something that Bitcoiners were complaining about in other finance apps where you have to babysit the balance of your Bitcoin wallet.
So I built the thing they and myself actually wanted.
**Better**
Compass just knows. Your net worth, your spending, and your goals are all priced in Bitcoin by default, and the Bitcoin part updates itself. You never type a balance again. Expenses from years ago use the price that Bitcoin was then and it's always up to date with current day prices for today when it comes to measuring.
**A few things I tried hard to get right:**
Your Bitcoin balance updates on its own. **YOU NEVER HAVE TO ENTER ANY PRIVATE KEY** and I knew that **security was a huge thing when working on the app.** You can either just enter the manual balance or the public read only address and it just watches and auto updates the balance. This gives me more accuracy when checking my balance.
Every purchase shows up in sats. For example, A $47 dinner lands as 73,194 sats or $2500 in rent is 3,893,293 sats / 0.4 BTC. Four categories: Bitcoin, Necessary, Discretionary, and Wasteful to easily categorize your spending. You have to spend money. Rent, groceries, kids. The point of holding Bitcoin was never to die with it. So instead of guilt, every purchase just shows you what it did to your goal's completion date. So like if your goal is to get to 1 BTC and you're spending a lot in wasteful, it will show you how many days you are behind to your goal.
**Technical:**
I made the app available on mobile, web, and desktop. **The desktop app has no account and no server. Nothing to sign up for, everything encrypted on your own machine.** This is what most people have liked but you have the option to look at it on all devices with sync which is still encrypted in DB. I've also opened source the compass-core that runs the app for the encryption, xpub, and conversions. Linked it in this post
**Cost:**
I'm doing a current deal right now for just $60 one time purchase for LIFETIME. You can pay in Bitcoin or USD. I think if we want to drive adoption of Bitcoin, I think it's important we start actually using it and this is your chance to as well.
I'd genuinely love your feedback, especially if you've been stacking for a while and have quietly given up on your finance app ever understanding it: long-time holders, self-custody people, anyone who already converts prices to sats in their head. Tell me what's missing or what feels clunky. I read every comment.
Thanks for reading, and I really appreciate any thoughts.

this lines up with what the ETH structure is showing too. price pulled back right into the retest zone of a level that already broke out, not fresh weakness, just the market giving the move back before continuing
if this were actually crypto specific you'd expect alts leading the selloff since they're usually first to break on bad news. instead BTC's holding up and dominance is climbing, which is exactly the signature of risk-off money leaving everything at once rather than crypto getting hit on its own

Exactly, man. The reality is that the Bitcoin rich list is giving numbers that are reasonably close to the actual holders. The overwhelming majority of people who "own" Bitcoin mostly likely have it on an exchange, an ETF or maybe on something like robinhood, and this also is a broad encompassing term for anyone holding crypto. Most of these people also own relatively modest amounts as well, not many are going to have 5 or 6 figures locked away.
The people that are actually going out and buying wallets to lock BTC into cold storage are in the minority. Also, I could totally see why someone with say .15 or .3 would just have it all on one wallet, it really doesn't make sense for them to juggle multiple wallets and needing to worry more about security, losing seeds, etc. In fact, I'd actually say that you are probably safer with FEWER wallets/addresses than more because of user error. Hell, supposedly Trump has 2 wallets, and he has way more than 99% of people using self custody.

Hey everyone,
I’ve been developing a custom risk-management system in Python connected via API to trade crypto futures, and I wanted to share the logic and performance stats from today's session.
Instead of focusing purely on signal entry, the core architecture revolves around **defensive trade management**:
* **TP1 Trigger:** Once the price hits Take Profit 1, an asynchronous request instantly modifies the active order, moving the Stop Loss (SL) to **Break-Even** to eliminate downside risk on the remaining position.
* **TP2 Target:** The remaining portion of the trade runs towards the main target.
* **Initial SL:** If the market reverses before reaching TP1, the initial SL cleanly cuts the trade.
# Today's Session Performance Stats:
I ran telemetry tracking across various crypto pairs (Longs and Shorts). Here is how the risk distribution looked:
* **Main Target (TP2) Hit:** 14 events
* **TP1 Secured (Moved to Break-Even):** 51 events
* **Initial Stop Loss Hit:** 22 events
# Example Log Output:
Plaintext
🟢 RISK DESK TP1 REACHED (LONG) | Asset: BTCUSDT | Price: 64262.8 | SL shifted to Break-Even
🎯 RISK DESK MAIN TARGET TP2 (LONG) | Asset: ZECUSDT
🛑 RISK DESK STOP LOSS (SHORT) | Asset: EULUSDT

If anyone is building similar websocket/API handlers for Bybit or experimenting with dynamic SL shifts in Python, I’d love to compare notes or discuss how you handle API rate limits during high volatility.

Who said I'm a BTC maxi? The conversation here was about BTC though and you cherry picked gold and silver price / time frames for whatever reason and I was just pointing that it proved nothing.

ChatGPT literally told you no:
>"So the practical answer is: **for ordinary retail investors, no US BTC ETF lets you withdraw BTC directly to a blockchain wallet"**
Also, fractional reserve doesn't work the way you describe it, and ChatGPT also explained that in the answer.
They don't buy Bitcoin whenever you withdraw, that would be too late. They keep a reserve: "The exchange keeps only a **liquid reserve** in its wallets" and a reserve to that reserve: "The rest may be in cold storage".
So when you withdraw it comes from one of their reserves.
But yea, they do periodically replenish their wallet every now and then. But not as much when we're in a bear market.
In a bear market they need more cash, and have too many coins. So they'd be selling their coins.

How you figure? This company pays out the crypto hits by sending you an empty Ballet wallet and then loads the funds into it once you confirm receiving it. I have claimed many… biggest they have is 1 BTC pulls

There is no way to know from the pseudonymous data on the blockchain, but what you *can* know are the total number of addresses that hold at least 0.1 BTC. That number as of the beginning of July was between 900,000 and 1,000,000 addresses. The problem is that there is no way to know how many of those addresses are associated with one another, e.g. some large holder or institution may own many of them, even within a derived chain in a single wallet.

0.1 BTC already gets you into a fairly exclusive tier, well below the wholecoiner level but ahead of the large majority of addresses!

ETF is not something you withdraw to a wallet. You get the cash or the ETF, not the crypto.
And CEX is not paper. If you buy a BTC, you actually have a BTC you can withdraw. And the price goes up when you buy, not when you withdraw.

reduced exposure of btc from 5% to less than 1%. theres better ways to make money in this market than BTC. even if it pumps 100%, 200%, theres so many companies that have produced 10x those returns in the last 2 years.

SOLVED THE GME JPN CARRY TRADE

Okay I got it i think: Here me out. Why is Ukraine attacking russian soil and oil factories?
This is hard...so Brics nations member are working together coming up with new currency XRP coin, its because America at the start of the Ukraine war removed russia from the swift payment system this is like BTC meant to allow free trade.
They BRICS nations happen, to trade based on GOLD. not USD.
Okay, so we have BRICS coming together removing trade from America weakening their position in a very bad way. Now we have an attack on Venezuela where Russian China and Iran were getting oil,
Then they had to attack IRAN because the world mostly uses middle east oil. This way they can prolong the WAR as long as they can to force others to buy from who? Well with russias oil being attacked now, america is the oil to buy.
Chine and Russia and Iran are building a rail system that circumvents the power of the us navy
See it? They blew up russian oil pipelines to europe because of this threat, because their BS steal from the poor and give to the rich system is coming to an end. Infinite growth is impossible to sustain. We are just seeing the end of the old monetary system.
1. Remove all oil pipelines from russia to europe.
2. Remove the oil from venezuela
3. Remove the oil to the rest of the eurasian continents by stalling the straight
4. Force everyone to have to buy US oil thus putting strength back into the US dollars
5. This is also why the insanely strong out of nowhere push for crypto and Ai infrastructure.

This is all a ruse, they are using all this shit to prevent the collapse of America. This is only going to delay things.....now the fun part.....

GME Roaring kitty was pointing to THIS, the collapse of the American financial sector which would for banks to call in all debts causing the short position in GME and others to cash in. The Japan carry trade only stalled because america attacked the entire planet. Japan will unwind more if this fails so guess what, that war in Iran is NEVER going to end because if it does that means the world can go back to getting cheaper Iranian and Russian oil.

Just try and pick this apart.

Lmao, $200k? Says who? Do you have a crystal ball? I'm telling you, dude. BTC literally had a president openly promoting BTC. BTC had an enterprise like Strategy pouring billions into it. Weekly buying. BTC was one the most hyped crypto. Yet, BTC had small rois in comparison to a boring stock such as XOM and Nvidia. Plus alts such as XRP, SOL and TRON had bigger rois than BTC's. Also, TRON is only 28% from its ATHs whereas BTC is down about 51%, brutal!!!
