Star Atlas is a virtual gaming MMORG built on the Solana blockchain. The game is a space exploration epic set in the year 2620 in a colonized galactic universe, with players joining one of three factions vying for power in an intergalactic conflict. Players can earn in-game currency and other assets (in the form of NFTs native to the Solana ecosystem) based on in-game play. Star Atlas is still in very early in development. The metaverse is being built on the Solana blockchain, with all in-game assets being created as Solana-native NFTs and a Serum-based dex used for in-game asset trading. Unlike some other blockchain or metaverse games, the team does not intend to sacrifice graphics quality for a smoother user experience; instead they are using the Unreal Engine 5 software framework in an attempt to provide the highest level of graphics quality possible. Unreal Engine 5 is the latest in graphics technology and includes a number of modules providing a next-generation graphics experience, including Nanite, Lumen, Chaos, and Niagara, which serve as components used to create a more realistic graphics environment.
