Trading 105.9% 5 yr gain for a 9.3% 5y gain with some dividends, hmmm. Both underlying assets are essentially large cap stocks. Doesn't make any sense. If you think future returns of SCHG will be lower - why not buy a higher coupon investment like BRLN - particularly if its coupon is tax-sheltered - and wait for a market drop? Otherwise just buy SCHG if you like that one.
The whole point of the "dividend irrelevancy theory", which really is just misnamed, is that dividends should not influence a retail investor's initial choice of equities. Total return is all that matters. If upon calculating total return many years later dividends played a role in that total return, that is fine.
