With a market capitalization of nearly Rs 2.26 lakh crore, Tata Steel Ltd’s share was trading near Rs 182 per share, down by 19 percent from its 52-week high. The stock of the company trades at a premium P/E of 19.2x compared to its industry average.
Tata Steel Ltd is set to announce its Q2 FY27 results on 7th November, with investors keeping a close watch on its domestic steel business and the performance of its European operations. Tata Steel Q2 FY27 Expectations
According to Motilal Oswal, Tata Steel is expected to report consolidated revenue of Rs 62,410 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with Rs 58,690 crore in Q2 FY26, representing a growth of 6.3 percent. However, EBITDA is estimated to decline by 10.3 percent YoY to Rs 7,980 crore from Rs 8,900 crore.
The brokerage expects adjusted net profit to decline by 36.6 percent YoY to Rs 2,070 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with Rs 3,270 crore in Q2 FY26.
On the other hand, Prabhudas Lilladher has a more positive outlook. It expects revenue to increase by 17.1 percent YoY to Rs 68,750 crore, while EBITDA is projected to grow by 23.5 percent to Rs 10,990 crore. Adjusted net profit is estimated at Rs 4,840 crore, marking a growth of 41.5 percent YoY.
This difference in estimates highlights the uncertainty around the company's profitability during the quarter.
Domestic Operations and Raw Material Costs
The domestic business is expected to remain an important earnings driver. However, steel realisations could see some moderation during the quarter. Management indicated that domestic net selling realisations (NSR) may decline by around Rs 1,500 per tonne QoQ in Q2 FY27, mainly due to seasonal weakness in long steel products during the monsoon.

On the cost front, coking coal consumption costs are expected to increase by around USD 5 per tonne QoQ in India. This could put additional pressure on margins. However, healthy automobile demand and benefits from recently concluded auto contract negotiations are expected to support the domestic business.
European Operations Remain Important
Tata Steel's European business will also be an important factor to watch. In the UK, management expects steel realisations to improve by GBP 70 to GBP 80 per tonne in Q2 FY27, although higher input costs could offset some of these benefits. The company is also targeting EBITDA breakeven in its UK operations in H2 FY27.
In the Netherlands, the restart of the Direct Sheet Plant (DSP) following regulatory issues is expected to support production and profitability. Management expects a sequential improvement in performance, although earnings may remain below normalised levels. Higher coking coal costs and weak European demand remain key concerns.
What Should Investors Watch?
For investors, the key factors will be the company's EBITDA margins, domestic steel realisations and the pace of recovery in European operations. The difference between the two brokerage estimates also makes the actual profitability performance particularly important.

Overall, Tata Steel's Q2 FY27 performance will depend on how well its domestic operations manage higher input costs and whether the improving European business can contribute to consolidated earnings. Investors should closely monitor margins and management commentary for further clues about the company's growth outlook.
