Two New Toll Contracts Come In from NHAI
Highway Infrastructure Limited has won two National Highways Authority of India contracts to collect user fees at highway toll plazas, worth about Rs. 431.86 crore together. The Palayam Fee Plaza in Tamil Nadu, valued at Rs. 340.08 crore, is the largest order the company has received. The Baiti Kala plaza in Uttar Pradesh adds Rs. 91.78 crore. Both came through competitive e-tenders and ran for one year. On 14 October 2026, the board also approved promoter warrants of up to Rs. 49 crore, higher authorised capital and a 51 percent stake in Indore Highway Real Estates.
What the Orders Mean for the Company
The orders give the company a clear year of toll collection work. Palayam alone is larger than the Rs. 303.28 crore of revenue reported in Q1 FY27, and both orders together equal about 71 percent of FY26 consolidated revenue of Rs. 608 crore. Profitability is the catch, as the toll division earned a segment profit of roughly 2 percent of its revenue in Q1 FY27, against nearly 11 percent a year earlier, so volumes must bring better margins.
The balance sheet moves add support. Promoter warrants bring up to Rs. 49 crore of fresh capital and signal promoter confidence, although conversion will add shares. The higher authorised capital also leaves room for future share issues. The real estate stake widens the business mix. Investors should now watch execution, working capital needs, margins and how fresh funds are used.

Q1 FY27 Financial Performance
Looking at the quarterly results of Highway Infrastructure Limited, the company’s consolidated revenue from operations increased by 170.9 percent YoY, from Rs. 111.95 crore in Q1 FY26 to Rs. 303.28 crore in Q1 FY27, and grew by 10.4 percent QoQ from Rs. 274.63 crore in Q4 FY26.
Highway Infrastructure Limited generated 90.3 percent of its revenue from the toll division, 9.2 percent from work contracts and machinery hire, and 0.5 percent from real estate in Q1 FY27.
In Q1 FY27, Highway Infrastructure Limited’s consolidated net profit declined by 85.3 percent YoY, reaching Rs. 1.07 crore compared to Rs. 7.25 crore during the same period last year. As compared to Q4 FY26, the net profit has decreased by 87.9 percent, from Rs. 8.82 crore. The basic earnings per share declined by 87.2 percent and stood at Rs. 0.16 as against Rs. 1.25 recorded in the same quarter in the previous year, FY2026.
Why India’s Road Sector Looks Promising
India’s growing economy keeps highway traffic and toll collections rising, while government spending on roads continues to support demand for road operators. Outsourced toll collection offers predictable, tender-based work. However, thin margins, tender competition and policy changes on tolling remain risks, so execution and cost control will decide who benefits.
