Bitcoin whales reduce selling as retail capitulation peaks

Finbold | Oct 26, 2026 12:19 PM EDT

As Bitcoin ( BTC ) fell over 7% in the past three consecutive weeks, trading at approximately $80,670 on October 26, 2026, on-chain data reveals a massive contrast between whales’ and retail inflows to Binance.

Bitcoin’s Binance Exchange Retail Inflow , which shows small holders’ deposits, on a 30-day sum basis has surged to $10.75 billion at the time of reporting from $5.5 billion six months ago, according to data Finbold fetched from CryptoQuant . As a result, BTC’s small holders’ deposits to Binance surged by 95.45% over the past six months.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin inflows to Binance from whales have declined to $3.8 billion on Monday from $5.9 billion at the end of August 2026. Essentially, BTC whale inflows to the Binance exchange have plunged by 35.59% over the past two months.

Historically, a rising deposit of a specific crypto asset increases selling pressure and vice versa. As a result, capitulation of retail traders amid renewed demand from whale investors has bolstered bullish sentiment, as whales absorb sellers.

“This divergence is worth watching, particularly to see whether whales will maintain this restraint if the price keeps climbing,” analyst Darkfost noted .

Amid the notable divergence between Bitcoin whales and retail inflows to Binance over the past weeks, BTC price has regained bullish sentiment.

Over the past 6 months, BTC price has climbed 6.45%, trading at $80,670 at the time of publication. Over the last 24 hours, the asset saw its market cap spike by more than 106% to $25 billion, as per metrics from CoinMarketCap .

As such, Bitcoin had a market capitalization of around $1.68 trillion.

Even though the BTC price has faced choppy consolidation over the past 30 days, on-chain data shows retail traders have increased their selling while whales have held steady.
