Navkar Corporation posts ₹190.74 Cr Q1 revenue up 37.77% YoY; secures ₹48 Cr Southern Railway Gati Shakti terminal contract in Tamil Nadu

Moving goods in India has long meant a relay race between trucks, trains and ports, with delays at every handover. The last mile from factory gate to railway wagon has been one of the weakest links, so businesses often default to roads even when rail would be cheaper. Cargo terminals built next to rail lines are meant to fix that, giving factories, farms and exporters a place to load goods straight onto trains and to store and handle them nearby. The model works best when private operators put in money and run the terminal efficiently.
Shares of Navkar Corporation Ltd . were trading at Rs. 86.80, up 1.95% from previous close of Rs. 85.14. The stock opened at Rs. 85.00 and reached an intraday high of Rs. 87.00 and low of Rs. 84.51. The company currently has a market capitalization of Rs. 1,292 crores.

What's the news
Navkar Corporation said it received a Letter of Acceptance from the Sr. DCM, Commercial Department, Salem, Southern Railway for a contract to build and operate a Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal. The terminal will sit entirely on railway land at Kulipalaiyam station, in the Uttukuli to Tiruppur section of Tamil Nadu. The letter reached the company at around 3 pm on October 13, and the contract is a domestic one.
The company has put the size of the contract at about Rs. 48 crore, though this may change with the final agreement. Navkar must finish construction within 18 months of the construction approval or the handover of the railway land, whichever comes later. The railway land will be licensed to it for 35 years. No promoter or group company has any interest in the awarding entity, and the contract is not a related party transaction.
Financial & Business analysis
Looking at the quarterly results of Navkar Corporation Ltd., the company’s consolidated revenue from operations increased by 37.77 percent YoY, from Rs. 138.45 crore in Q1 FY26 to Rs. 190.74 crore in Q1 FY27, and decreased by 4.99 percent QoQ from Rs. 200.76 crore in Q4 FY26.
In Q1 FY27 Navkar Corporation Ltd., consolidated net profit increased by 403.28 percent YoY, reaching Rs. 12.28 crore compared to Rs. 2.44 crore during the same period last year. As compared to Q4 FY26, the net profit has decreased by 12.16 percent, from Rs. 13.98 crore.
The basic earnings per share stood at Rs. 0.82 as against Rs. 0.16 recorded in the same quarter in the previous year, FY2026.
Navkar earns from three kinds of activity: container freight stations that handle port cargo, rail terminals, and container train operations. The filing does not break down the mix, so no split can be given here. This win adds a long-term, asset-based rail terminal to the portfolio. It also takes the company into Tamil Nadu, since its existing terminals are in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
The company does not publish a conventional order book, and this contract is better seen as a long-dated business opportunity than an order that shows up in revenue soon. Nothing will be earned until the terminal is built and running, which is at least a year and a half away. A 35-year licence gives plenty of time to build up customers, and the terminal can feed Navkar's own train operations with more cargo. The Tiruppur region is known for garment and textile exports, which gives the site a ready base of shippers to approach.
Industry context
The Gati Shakti terminal policy has moved quickly. As of July 2026, 142 terminals had been commissioned with an estimated freight handling capacity of 224 million tonnes a year. They handled 146 million tonnes in 2025-26, and approvals are in place for 310 more locations. Private investment of roughly Rs. 10,000 crore has been mobilised.
The ministry says these terminals cut first- and last-mile costs, speed up loading and unloading, improve wagon turnaround and encourage a shift from road to rail. With so many approvals still to be built, demand for experienced terminal operators is likely to stay strong. Companies that already run rail terminals have an advantage, because they know the process from approval to operation.
