I've been underperforming QQQ and barely keeping pace with SPY for the past 2.5 years (basically when my daughter learned how to walk) and I find I have less time to keep up with my individual positions. Therefore, I've been methodically consolidating my portfolio down to a core 15-25 positions in my IRA and 5 positions in my taxable. All sales for this purpose are immediately re-invested into an even split between SPY, VOO, and AVUV. In my IRA this morning, I sold GMED (lost trust in management), REGN (lost interest in following the company), DOCS (valuation feels stretched in a niche industry), YETI, and SAP (bought both during liberation day as a short-term play). After selling and re-buying in the ETFs, my cash position as a % of my total cost basis went from 16.9% to 16.7%.
Then, I added to positions I have more conviction in: CLBT (added 23% more shares), PUBM (15% more), PRCT (28% more), and QXO (22% more). Kind of wish I had opened a full position in QXO when it was around $13 instead of 3/5 of a position but c'est la vie. Any time you're investing in a Brad Jacobs company, you need to be thinking a decade in the future so I'm fine adding around $19.50 today.
Cash position as a % of my total cost basis is now 15.4%.
