I remember the hype about TOR and Crypto to only realize that from your submarine cables to super-secure crypto nonsense need huge funding to just exist. And who has extra money to invest in all this? That's right the intelligence agencies, particularly the CIA, apparently their budget is not open to the public, and they used to run drugs for a good part of 70 years, so they have more cash than Canada's GDP at this point.
All the tech bro crowd talking about how they won't give the data to the governments, only for these intelligence agencies to fund big VPN companies that grow out of nowhere to shove ads in your face 24x7, and they don't just make you route all the data to some server in Europe they probably own, but they also make you pay for it. It's beautiful and hilarious.

As Bitcoin is owned by the NSA, they are in fact the same entity. The stupid part is, people still believe that their transactions are private and yet it has been shown a number of times that they are not.

Palantir is very much the privatized model of the NSA which operated under both Democrat and GOP presidents. Saying national surveillance and data collection isn't a bipartisan effort is just not true
