First off - I do hold international funds and believe that is a sound investment for any portfolio. However….
There is a difference between the US losing it’s superpower status, or even our reserve currency status, and the impact that would have on US-traded public companies. These companies have a MASSIVE head start on the rest of the world. In addition, it is quite possible that the business environment in the US could get MORE favorable for big business in the case where the US, as a country, continues to lose influence. For companies traded in other countries, those countries would still have to do something to make their business conditions favorable. Most have their own problems that impede business.
Also, the US ability to use its military might to influence the world is still a couple of orders of magnitude greater than all competitors. Right now, it is more of a will to fight not a lack of firepower on display in the Middle East.
Maybe not a great situation for workers, or soldiers, but I believe the US business environment has a lot more room to run.

AW, Sport, look at you still justifying a poor decision. You know actual gold is cheaper and even MORE places will take it and you can actually exchange for cash in many placees and not loose 1/2 of what you paid for it . . .
