I invest in pairs so I can rebalance between the "two" easier. It's what I do, so don't read too much into it.
I have SCHG+SCHD, SPYI+QQQI, QDPL+QSIX and MSTY+GLD. I don't have the pairs "evenly" split, IE not 25%, 25%, 25%, 25%.
Outside of MSTY+GLD, the other 3 "pairs" follow S&P and Nasdaq which is what I prefer since I like "index" investing. I have other funds in retirement accounts that I can't pick the funds so I don't list them but they are mostly s&p in some form.
While I have MSTY+GLD, I don't consider them part of my "retirement" portfolio because of what they are. I have them in my "speculative" portfolio.

Its why I like QDPL and QSIX, they track the s&p / nasdaq pretty well while providing 5% dividends
