Ah awesome to hear you already have IALT going to work for you. And yeah, smart on you for wanting to understand the underlying methodology & mechanics before adding anything to your portfolio.
Our [BlackRock Systematic investing team](https://www.blackrock.com/us/individual/investment-ideas/systematic-investing) often pens our Reddit responses when they pertain to alternatives, active strategies, factor investing, and other data-driven approaches. They study how risk factors interact, how portfolios behave across different market environments and they manage a variety of active ETFs that seek different outcomes, like diversification, income, and alpha.
If you're interested, feel free to check out their lineup and ask us anything you’d want more information/clarity on, whether it be IALT or a different investment strategy they manage. Being able to answer questions and provide more transparency & access is the reason we started engaging on Reddit in the first place!

Thanks! To answer your question, I actually already hold IALT in one of my portfolios. I use it as a no leveraged diversifier. A nice counterbalance to capital-efficient, return-stacked exposures like RSST. I find IALT to be a compelling fund essentially acting as an ETF blend of a BDMIX-style marketneutral base with a broader multi-strategy sleeve. While, I am definitely open to using active ETFs for dynamic adjustments, I tend to favor highly transparent, rules based methodologies. I would need more visibility into the funds underlying mechanics and how they manage those internal sleeves before I'd be comfortable scaling it up into a larger strategic allocation.

Really thoughtful framework, well done! Smart how you separate "fast crash" and "slow grind" environments because they often call for different types of diversifiers.
One thing we’d add is that there are a lot more ways to diversify today without leaving the ETF wrapper. For example, [the iShares Systematic Alternatives Active ETF (IALT)](https://www.ishares.com/us/products/346898/) combines differentiated sources of return across equities, credit, and macro strategies with the goal of building a portfolio that is more resilient across different market environments. It offers access to alternative strategies in the convenience of an ETF and can complement a traditional stock and bond allocation.
Curious if you'd ever consider using an active ETF to handle some of those portfolio adjustments and rebalancing for you as market conditions change, rather than making each allocation decision yourself?
