Investing.com --
The Trade Desk Inc. (NASDAQ: TTD) stock fell 3% Friday afternoon following an Adweek report that Amazon is offering agencies free head-to-head testing of its demand-side platform (DSP) against competitors.
According to the report, which cited a pitch deck and sources familiar with the matter, Amazon is approaching agencies with an offer to fund comparative tests between its DSP and rival platforms, including covering costs for competitors’ ad inventory, technology, and media measurement tools. The proposed tests would run dual campaigns for 4-6 weeks with equal budgets allocated to both Amazon’s DSP and the competing platform.
In the leaked presentation slides, Amazon described the testing program as "designed to empirically demonstrate the performance of Amazon DSP versus other DSPs" and an "opportunity to evaluate and optimize your programmatic advertising strategy through a controlled test with comprehensive analysis."
The Trade Desk, which operates one of the leading independent demand-side platforms in the digital advertising ecosystem, appears to be facing increased competitive pressure from Amazon’s aggressive expansion in the advertising technology space.

Creating this post mostly for newbies, who ask why pick a FoF when the expense ratio is much lower than their respective ETF. ([Link to similar post on Gold](https://www.reddit.com/r/mutualfunds/comments/1o9scjx/im_a_newbie_should_i_buy_gold_etf_or_gold_mutual/))
1. Silver (and gold) mutual funds charge expense ratios of the mutual funds plus the underlying expense ratios of the ETF.
2. So, buying a gold/silver ETF seems like a no-brainer, right?
* Remember, in a gold/silver mutual fund, the onus is on the fund house to sell your holdings and give you the amount when you want to exit.
* In an ETF, the onus is on you. Meaning if there are no buyers in the market, you cannot sell your ETF (same as how it works for a stock). You could offset this risk a little by going with an ETF with high liquidity.
* You need a demat account for ETF, consider the brokerage charges you’ll be paying.
* Check the iNAV from the NSE website before you buy - [https://www.nseindia.com/get-quotes/equity?symbol=SILVERBEES](https://www.nseindia.com/get-quotes/equity?symbol=SILVERBEES)
* If you think the above 4 points seem complicated to you, stick to a gold/silver mutual fund.
3. Addeddum (thanks to u/Public_Sky8190)
* **Automation and Convenience**: FoFs offer automated SIP, SWP, and STP options, requiring no manual effort. Although they come with slightly higher costs.
* **Demat Account Considerations**: Opening a demat account just for purchasing Gold ETFs seems unreasonable, particularly for those who do not already have one. Additionally, being aware of the liquidity of an ETF is crucial, whereas this is the responsibility of the AMC in the case of FoFs.
* **Cost Considerations**: We often overlook that the expense ratio isn't the only cost factor; transaction fees and annual maintenance charges also significantly impact overall expenses.
What does the highlighted colour mean? (They don't mean you should pick these)
* Green highlights for volumes – Top 3 silver ETF
* Purple highlights for Silver Mutual Funds
* These three funds invest in gold & silver ETFs, so total expense ratios are higher, depending on the underlying gold & silver ETFs.
* Motilal Oswal – Invests in their own gold & silver ETF, as well as ICICI Gold & Nippon Silver ETFs. (so even higher expense ratio than what's been shown in the image).
Taxation?
* ETF
* STCG - Units held for less than 12 months, gains are taxed as per your tax slab
* LTCG - Units held for more than 12 months, gains are taxed at 12.5 %
* FoF
* STCG - Units held for less than 24 months, gains are taxed as per your tax slab
* LTCG - Units held for more than 24 months, gains are taxed at 12.5 %
Thanks to u/gdsctt-3278 for [pointing out](https://www.reddit.com/r/mutualfunds/comments/1o9scjx/comment/nk5cesy), that DSP is the only fund house that clearly discloses the TER with underlying expenses in their factsheets.

I’ve been working for 3 years, and my dad had set up SIPs from my account through a third-party platform. I didn’t notice at the time, but now I see I’m invested in regular mutual funds. I want to stop these SIPs and start investing myself in direct funds.
My portfolio is like this:
1. Bandhan ELSS Tax Saver Fund Reg (G) -> Current Monthly Investment: 12,500 Purchase Cost: 2,92,500 Current Value: 3,18,837 CAGR: +9.26% Start Date: Oct, 2023
2. DSP Global Innovation Overseas Equity Omni FoF Reg (G) -> Discontinued Purchase Cost: 1,45,000 Current Value: 2,67,713 CAGR: +26.91% Start Date: Feb, 2022 End Date: Jun, 2024
3. Franklin India Opportunities Fund (G) -> Current Monthly Investment: 12,500 Purchase Cost: 5,00,000 Current Value: 5,23,043 CAGR: +4.83% Start Date: Jul, 2024
4. ICICI Pru Energy Opportunities Fund Reg (G) -> Current Monthly Investment: 10,000 Purchase Cost: 5,00,000 Current Value: 5,23,043 CAGR: +4.83% Start Date: Jul, 2024
5. Franklin India Multi Asset Allocation Fund Reg (G) -> Current Monthly Investment: 5,000 Purchase Cost: 2,65,000 Current Value: 2,76,997 CAGR: +20.31% Start Date: Jul, 2025
On their platform it shows that the overall XIRR is 14.40:
Investment: 18,35,630
Redemption: 2,78,133
Current Value: 18,43,262
Should I just switch to direct funds and stop these SIPs, or start SIPs in different mutual funds (which funds should those be)? Also, what’s the best way to handle the money already invested?

Yes, you are right. DSP flexi is not an outperformer, but is very consistent. Consistency alone is not sufficient for many and that is fine :)

There was a research report of DSP on gold and silver prices, where they derived the actual price of Gold and silver using 100% M2 Supply of USD and 50% of Euro
I believe such methodology is close to perfect coz these 2 currencies contribute to approx 80-85% of world trade alone so we can get a really good approximation price
So based on this the Midpoint of Gold was $3825 an ounce ( approx 1,05,000 rs per 10 gram 24 karat ), and silver was $65
So from current levels we have 7-8% downside in gold but 30% upside in silver
We have already seen crazy returns in gold and silver ( gold doubled from 1800$ in sep 2023 to $4400 some days back ), I feel we can see a bit of consolidation for about 3-6 months before they start another leg of rally ( it won’t be as fast as before coz the prices of gold and silver were already lagging behind the real price based on M2 supply )
But in reality these gold and silver prices are in super cycles ( 6-8-12 years type of run generally ), so we are currently in bull run and it would be like that for Atleast the time Trump remains in power ( basically till the time USA stops decreasing their interest rates and starts to increase it to reduce inflation and increase Dollar strength )
Might be very complex to you, but to summarize this you should continue to accumulate more and more gold ( you can try to invest in Gold ETFs monthly and as soon as the ETF amount reaches 1 lakh or 1.5 lakh, you can sell it and buy physical gold for yourself )

With all due respect, DSP is hugging the category average since last 5 years. I would rather invest in a fund which is performing well from last 5 years rather one which is not performing from last 5. I might be wrong.

Do you really suggest changing funds just because they do not perform for a year or two? DSP Flexi has not performed well recently because It has around 40% allocation to mid/small caps. One of the few truly diversified flexi caps.
