It depends a bit on the size of your portfolio, most investors are going to struggle to meaningfully diversify with a portfolio of individual stocks, and it requires a time / attention commitment that most people don’t want. Odds that you will underperform markets by more than a few % are high.
I think what you’re doing atm is reasonable given the options available to Irish investors.
Also my understanding is the recent 3% reduction in the exit tax is intended to be the first step in the eventual harmonization of the ETF exit tax and CTG, and the elimination of DD. I think Irish investors will see movement on this in the next few budgets.
