Status is a mobile operating system that combines a decentralized browser and private messenger for the Ethereum network. Status is a network of technologies that enable an interface to web 3. At its current core the application is a secure messenger, a web3 browser, and a wallet. It is currently available on iOS, Android, Windows, MacOS, and Linux. V1 of the mobile app is currently going through an extensive security audit and will be released after all found problems are fixed. The desktop application is currently in alpha stage and will receive more attention after mobile V1 The secure messenger is actually a communications network and is optimized for privacy, security, and censorship resistance. Status currently utilizes the Whisper protocol to provide message transport in a decentralized way while also providing obfuscation of routing information. All messages are then end-to-end-encrypted so that only the users and their intended recipients can read the contents. The wallet manages a user's Ether and associated tokens to provide a single interface for users to manage their funds. It is also accessible inside the messenger, to allow the functionality of sending and receiving digital assets in conversations. As with the messenger, the wallet is optimized for security, all interaction requires verification on the application side so that the user can be sure they are interacting with who they think they are in the way they intend. The web3 browser allows a user to safely and securely browse decentralized applications on Ethereum, linking their preferred wallet account to interact. Status has built multiple decentralized applications to enable users to interact with each other in new ways powered by the Ethereum network and SNT. Features include unique username by staking SNT which leverages the ENS. There is also a community curated dApp store which projects can stake tokens to get ranked which is governed by a bonded curve. The more they stake, the higher they rank while simultaneously giving more power to users to downvote them. The Teller Network is a permissionless network enabling fiat-to-crypto exchange. There is also a new project funding and management framework to allow anyone to submit, fund, and manage projects in hopes to incentivize an open community of developers in the Status network.
