BTC is not crypto - i guess thats short for 'btc is not a p2p electronic cash system'. It's used more like a stock you buy shares of, hoping for it to go up.

Just like Sui also which was supposed to be the Solana killer & better than Algorand, the issue is inflationary tokens that do not pass the value on to their holders like XRP. The reason why BTC has seen such dramatic price appreciation is because there are only 21M coins.

I've been digging into this lately too. Found Botanix which is doing something pretty different it's basically an EVM that runs on Bitcoin. What caugt my attention is how they handle the BTC. No wrapped tokens, no "trust this company" BS. Your BTC gets held by a distributed federation of signers, not some single entity that could rug everyone. Way better than the centralized platforms that keep imploding.
The yield part is interesting too. It's not the typical ponzi emissions or risky lending stuff. You earn from actual network usage when people pay gas fees in BTC, those get distributed to stBTC holders. Still playing around with it myself, but honestly it's refreshing to see something that doesn't ask you to give up custody or trust some random multisig. Feels more like how Bitcoin DeFi should actually work instead of all these wrapped token workarounds.

I am of the camp that Bitcoin doesn’t need to become a household name to be widely adopted, in the same way that DNS/dhcp and other internet protocols don’t need to be household names yet peoples experience online still relies on them. BTC in due time will become the background force that powers the money layer but people don’t need to know how it works; it needs to become so usable that the avg person uses it without realizing it

Yep that 180x would put BTC around the $600 mark, which is still around 2016 prices. If you go back to BTC's prices in early 2011 when it was still $1, you'd be up over 1,100,000% today... though good luck putting $1Billion into it back then, when the market cap was barely a million dollars at the time.

Governments are convinced they need in-house sovereign AI for national security. Fine. But what happens when they don’t have the tech skills to figure out on-prem at scale?

🚨 U.S. Government’s Crypto Stash Hits $34B. The U.S. government now holds ~325K $BTC (~$34.8B), about 3.5% of its gold reserves. A recent DOJ seizure of 127,271 BTC (~$15B) caused holdings to jump 64% overnight. That makes the U.S. the 2nd largest Bitcoin holder after Strategy.

When you ignore the USD:BTC exchange rate, all you have left is hyper-deflation.

If you look at a comp of a few majors... BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, etc... You'll see that SOL has ripped nearly 3600% since cycle bottom, while BTC is roughly 600%. ETH has yet to crack 5x.
Now let's look at this in Mcap terms. At the bottom SOL was roughly $3.4B mcap, ETH over $100B at bottom. The deviation was so extreme... the upside was free. Most asymmetrical bet in crypto at that time.
By comparison ETH currently has an Mcap of $475B, while SOL's Mcap is just over $100B.
For perspective the gap was nearly 40x between SOL / ETH at the bottom, while today it's a little less than 4.75x. There still remains outperformance to the upside, but it will be much slower.
The most bullish scenario for upside multiples SOL could have is a bear market tbh. If that doesn't happen I think SOL will likely have a phase where ETH outpaces it for 6 months (or more), then we see a rotation back to SOL szn. Personally I'd prefer a big wash out, but I'll take what the market gives me.
As for valuation, adoption, etc... Price always outruns fundamentals, adoption, and development in this space. The froth for gains is high in crypto...from institutions, to VC's, to industry insiders, to KOL's, to average retails plebs...froth for quick/easy $ in this space is extreme. This is how we end up with cycles.
Big fan of SOL though... good tech, great dev community, lots of exciting activity. Good horse to bet on imo.

You are better off buying bitcoin income funds like BTCI on the side rather than trying to borrow against your BTC. I’d say this is viable once BTC goes much higher say a million a coin. We don’t know if the CAGR will continue to be 30-50% per year. Remember Oct 10 you might have been liquidated depending on your LTV.
