That's because reddit is full of noise. If you filter it out and look into it, it's incredible.
Scandium Canada owns a separate division called Scandium+ that developed 2 alloys that are amenable to 3D printing. They developed an alloy that doesn't develop microcracks during cooling, which has been a decades old problem in advanced manufacturing and aerospace, it's a big deal.
The alloys are also weldable, corrosive resistant, and have excellent conductivity. They are strong as steel with the weight of aluminum.
Solving the issue of microcracks now allows 3D printing of aerospace structural components. Aerospace has been salivating for this, as 3D printing is cheaper, faster, less waste, and incrddibly precise for complex parts. The alloys are patent protected and currently under aerospace qualifications. SCD has signed multiple NDA's and MOU's with large end users who are interested in the alloys.
Their entire thesis is to generate profitable revenue of the alloys before the mine. This will offset the obvious Capex issues everyone on reddit talks about, but nobody knows about the alloys or factors in this entire revenue stream.
Everyone thinks there's no demand for Scandium, but they are completely wrong. The demand is dormant. Aerospace has HEAVILY researched Scandium for decades. The Russians were using Scandium in their MIG's in the 1970's, and thousands of aerospace patents use Scandium.
The federal government has been fully supporting this fully integrated Scandium supply chain, and SCD has the only Scandium aluminum alloy in the world that can 3D print without microcracks.
Obviously do your own DD and don't just take my word for it, but the reason SCD has a "cult" following are because some people dug deeper and saw there was an entire half of the company that reddit wasn't noticing.
Check out the alloys, their uses, and how big of a deal this is for advanced manufacturing.
