The company posted net income of $110.99 million or $0.80 per share in the second quarter, higher than $106.62 million or $0.76 per share in the same quarter a year ago. Excluding items, earnings of $0.82 per share beat the average estimate of 19 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters at $0.63 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net sales in the quarter jumped 5.6 percent to $4.09 billion from $3.9 billion last year. The consensus estimate was for $3.77 billion.

Currently at $53.18, the stock has traded between $36.07 and $54.07 during the past 52 weeks.
