07:22 Wednesday, August 18, 2021 (RTTNews.com) - Casual dining restaurant owner Brinker International, Inc. (EAT) reported Wednesday a fourth-quarter net income of $75.0 million or $1.58 per share, compared to a net loss of $49.2 million or $1.20 per share in the prior-year quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted net income for the quarter was $1.68 per share, compared to adjusted net loss of $0.88 per share in the year-ago quarter.

Total revenues for the quarter almost doubled to $1.01 billion from $563.2 million in the same quarter last year.

On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $1.71 per share on revenues of $1.0 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Comparable restaurant sales surged 65.4 percent over the fourth quarter of last year, and 5.1 percent over the fourth quarter of fiscal 2019.

Looking ahead, the company said it is not providing financial outlook for fiscal 2022, due to the uncertainties created by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the increasing impact of the Delta variant.
