10:25 Wednesday, August 4, 2021 (RTTNews.com) - Shares of Coursera Inc. (COUR) are rising over 10% Wednesday morning, after the company reported a narrower-than-expected loss and strong revenue growth for the second quarter. The company also lifted its fiscal 2021 revenue guidance.

The stock is currently trading at $39.59, up $3.91 or 10.96% with trading volume of over 1.03 million versus an average volume of 1.10 million shares.

Q2 Results

The company's Q2 net loss was $46.4 million or $0.35 per share compared to a loss of $13.9 million or $0.38 per share last year. Non-GAAP net loss was $6.9 million or $0.05 per share compared to a loss of $10.3 million or $0.29 per share in the prior year period. Total revenue was $102.1 million, up 38% from $73.7 million a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected a loss of $0.11 per share on revenue of $91.49 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimate typically exclude certain special items.

Q3, FY21 Guidance

The company projects revenue in the range of $105 million - $109 million for the third quarter, and between $402 million and $410 million for the fiscal year 2021. Wall Street analysts estimate revenue of $96.2 million for the third quarter, and $378.51 million for the fiscal year 2021.

Previously, the company expected FY21 revenue to be in the range of $369 million - $381 million.
