(NURO) shares are gaining on Tuesday morning as the company said it's Quell device has received breakthrough designation from the U.S. FDA for treating the symptoms of fibromyalgia in adults. Fibromyalgia is a common form of chronic pain that is also accompanied by fatigue, sleep, cognitive and mood disturbances.

NeuroMetrix said Quell is a non-invasive, wearable neurostimulator. The custom-designed microchip helps provide flexible, precise, high-power nerve stimulation.

Currently, shares are at $3.89, up 19.33 percent from the previous close of $3.26 on a volume of 19,357,899. For the 52-week period, the shares have traded in the range of $1.39-$5.78 on average volume of 114,573.
