The New York-based bank that serves African-American communities has not released any stock-related news to drive the shares, but it seems Carver Bancorp is being driven by retail investors who use platforms like Reddit for their stock picks.

CARV is currently trading at $38.70, up $16.81 or 76.79%, on the Nasdaq. The stock opened at $34.38, after closing Thursday's trading at $21.89. The stock has gained over 230% in the past couple of days.

Carver Bancorp, Inc. operates as the holding company for Carver Federal Savings Bank, a federally chartered savings bank that provides consumer and commercial banking services for consumers, businesses, and governmental and quasi-governmental agencies primarily in New York.

Although the company did not feature on Reddit's r/WallStreetBets, the site of many other meme stock discussions, the stock appeared on a subreddit called r/carvstock.
