10:47 Tuesday, May 4, 2021 (RTTNews.com) - Shares of funeral goods and services provider Service Corporation International (SCI) are up 3 percent on Tuesday's trading as the company posted higher first-quarter earnings, which beat analyst estimates.

The company posted first-quarter income of $228.88 million or $1.33 per share, higher than $81.94 million or $0.45 per share in the same period last year.

Adjusted earnings came in at $227.9 million or $1.32 per share for the period while analysts polled by Thomson Reuters had expected the company to earn $0.99 per share for the quarter.

The company's revenue for the quarter rose 35 percent to $1.08 billion from $0.80 billion last year.

The stock is currently trading at $55.02, up $1.71 or 3 percent on the NYSE.

SCI has traded between $33.93 and $55.86 during the last 52 weeks.
