Zaandam, the Netherlands,November30, 2020 Ahold Delhaize announces today thattheUFCW Localsof itsU.S. brand Stop & Shophave ratified theagreementtoterminate participation in theUnited Food & Commercial Workers International UnionIndustryPension Fund (theNational Plan).As previously announced, the agreement does not impact the 2020 financial outlook.

Details of thefinancial impactwere outlined in theoriginal releaseon July 21st, 2020,andcan be foundhere.Thiswithdrawalimproves the security of pension benefits for associates as well as reduces financial risk for the companyand was determined, by the National Plans trustees,to be in the best interests of the National Plansparticipantsand beneficiaries.

Alsoaspreviously announced,Stop & Shop,together withKroger and theUFCW Locals,arecreatingthe UFCW International Union-Industry Variable Annuity Pension Plan for future benefits.This new plan is designed to protect the benefit accrual of participants, with asignificantlyreduced risk of planunderfundingandimproved visibilityon annual contributions.
