Brokerage Viewpoints
Jefferies, a prominent brokerage firm, has recommended a “Buy” call on ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited with a target price of Rs. 670 per share, indicating an upside potential of 50.16 percent from its previous day’s close price of Rs. 446.20.
Jefferies retains a BUY recommendation on ICICI Prudential Life Insurance even after the company has reported a Value of New Business (VNB) margin that is below expectations. This fall was mainly because of a high contribution from group business, while the APE growth was aided by group business. But the low growth seen in the bancassurance and agency distribution channels is a cause for worry in the short term.
Jefferies has trimmed its forecast for FY27-FY29 VNB by 2%, taking into account a lower mix of retail protection. However, the firm feels that most downside risks are currently baked into the stock price. This is why the BUY call is based on the prospect of upside from business mix improvement, channel growth, and value creation.

Similarly, Bernstein has recommended a “Market-Perform” call on ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited with a target price of Rs. 680 per share, indicating an upside potential of 52.40 percent from its previous day’s close price of Rs. 446.20.
Bernstein maintains a Market-Perform rating on ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited, as margin expansion has helped offset softer new business sales growth. The improvement in margins was primarily driven by a favourable shift in the product mix, supporting profitability despite relatively moderate growth in new business premiums.
Growth momentum was still somewhat lopsided for the company segments, as the retail protection segment and the annuities segment exhibited good growth. The company’s partnership channel business grew well, aiding in business growth for the company. Nevertheless, the uneven growth profile implies no immediate catalyst, reinforcing Bernstein’s neutral rating on the stock.
Further, Goldman Sachs has recommended a “Neutral” call on ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited with a target price of Rs. 500 per share, indicating an upside potential of 12.06 percent from its previous day’s close price of Rs. 446.20.
Goldman Sachs rates ICICI Prudential Life Insurance as Neutral because of the favorable impact on margins due to improvement in product mix. However, the firm is cautious in its estimates for top line growth due to uncertainties around new business growth trajectory.
The company will continue to concentrate on protection and annuities business to enhance its profitability and diversification in its portfolio. The management highlighted that it has all the levers to create value through sustained VNB growth over the next couple of years. But, the uncertain outlook regarding revenue growth justifies the neutral position of Goldman Sachs on the stock.
