What’s The News
SJS Enterprises has announced a capacity addition of approximately 20% at its Bengaluru manufacturing facility. The company will invest around Rs. 45 crore for the expansion, which will be funded through internal accruals.
The additional capacity is expected to become commercially operational in Q3 FY27. The company is expected to make a separate announcement once commercial production begins. The expansion is aimed at supporting growing customer demand and providing additional manufacturing capacity as the company continues to add new business programmes.
Bengaluru Facility Capacity Expansion
The Bengaluru facility is an important part of SJS Enterprises’ manufacturing footprint. The plant has a built-up area of around 2.25 lakh square feet and existing production capacity of approximately 30 crore parts per annum.
During FY26, the facility was operating at around 75% capacity utilisation. The proposed 20% capacity addition will therefore provide additional headroom for the company to accommodate higher volumes and new customer requirements without relying entirely on its existing infrastructure.
The expansion is particularly relevant as SJS continues to work with major automotive and consumer companies. Its FY26 annual report noted that the company strengthened relationships with customers including Mahindra & Mahindra, Whirlpool, Samsung, Hyundai, TVS, Yamaha, Bajaj Auto, Honda, Royal Enfield and John Deere, among others.
Rs. 45 Crore Investment to Be Funded Through Internal Accruals
The other important aspect about this expansion is that the entire Rs. 45 crores worth of investment would be funded from internal accruals. This implies that no external finance in terms of either additional borrowings or equity needs to be raised by the firm to facilitate this expansion.
It could be noted that internal funding of the project will enable SJS to extend its manufacturing facilities without any further cost of financing or dilution of existing equity. But the economic value of this investment will depend on when the additional capacity comes on line post-commercial production.
Why the Capacity Addition Matters
The expansion comes at a time when SJS is increasing its focus on higher-value products and expanding its customer base. The company has been moving beyond conventional decorative components towards products such as optical cover glass, automotive display systems, illuminated logos, in-mould electronics and integrated applications.
Additional capacity at Bengaluru could provide the company with greater flexibility to service new customer programmes and increase production volumes as demand grows.
The company’s recent operating performance also provides context for the expansion. In Q3 FY26, SJS reported operating revenue of Rs. 243.53 crore, up 36.4% YoY, while EBITDA increased 56.9% YoY to Rs. 75.64 crore. The company also reported a 30.5% EBITDA margin during the quarter.
Other Capacity Expansion Initiatives
The Bengaluru expansion is part of SJS Enterprises’ broader investment in manufacturing capabilities. The company’s FY26 annual report highlighted the progress of its chrome plating and painting facility at SJS Decoplast, while the cover glass and optical display facility at Hosur was nearing readiness with equipment orders placed. SJS Decoplast also commenced operations at its new Pune facility in August 2026, adding to the company's manufacturing capacity.
These investments are aimed at broadening SJS Enterprises’ product capabilities and supporting its growth across automotive and consumer applications.
Financial Performance
Looking at the quarterly results of SJS Enterprises, the company’s consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs.  261.00 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with Rs.  209.66 crore in Q1 FY26, registering a growth of around 24.5% YoY. On a sequential basis, revenue increased marginally by around 0.3% QoQ from Rs.  260.12 crore in Q4 FY26.
In Q1 FY27, the company’s consolidated net profit stood at Rs.  74.42 crore, compared with Rs.  34.62 crore in Q1 FY26, registering a sharp growth of around 115% YoY. On a QoQ basis, net profit increased by around 52.3% from Rs.  48.87 crore in Q4 FY26. The reported profit growth was also supported by a one-time gain related to the sale of the company’s erstwhile Bengaluru facility, and therefore the reported PAT growth should be viewed in that context. The company’s basic EPS stood at Rs.  23.18 in Q1 FY27, compared with Rs.  11.03 in Q1 FY26 and Rs.  15.16 in Q4 FY26.
Investor Perspective
For investors, the Rs. 45 crore Bengaluru expansion is significant because it adds capacity without requiring external funding. The approximately 20% increase should provide SJS Enterprises with additional production headroom as it works on new customer programmes and higher-value products.
The key factor to watch will be the commissioning of the additional capacity in Q3 FY27 and its subsequent utilisation. Higher utilisation and successful ramp-up of customer programmes could help the company convert the additional manufacturing capacity into incremental revenue.
At the same time, investors should not treat the capacity addition itself as an immediate earnings increase. The financial impact will depend on demand, production ramp-up and the pace at which the new capacity is absorbed.
Conclusion
SJS Enterprises’ Rs. 45 crore investment to expand its Bengaluru facility by around 20% represents another step in the company’s ongoing manufacturing expansion. With the existing facility operating at around 75% utilisation in FY26, the additional capacity is intended to provide room for future growth and customer requirements.
With the project being funded through internal accruals and commercial production targeted for Q3 FY27, investors will primarily watch the commissioning timeline and the pace of utilisation after the expansion comes online.
