iFX EXPO Asia 2026 has kicked off its main exhibition and conference programme today (Thursday) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, bringing together professionals from across the global online trading, fintech and digital asset industries. The event, which began yesterday with a Welcome Party, is expected to attract more than 5,000 attendees from over 130 countries, alongside 150 exhibitors and more than 120 speakers. Over the next two days, brokers, liquidity providers, payment companies, technology vendors and cryptocurrency businesses will gather to discuss the latest developments shaping the financial services industry, with a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific region. The conference programme spans two stages, the Speaker Hall and Mastery Hub, with discussions covering artificial intelligence, stablecoins, tokenisation, prediction markets, trading infrastructure and opportunities for expansion across Asia. Physical Merchandise Builds Brands How does merchandise featuring the logos of well-known football clubs or other sports teams help brokers build their brands? “They build curiosity among people,” said Eric Xiao, Head of Sales (Asia) at CMC Markets, following the broker’s front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with Everton. FP Markets’ Global Event Manager, Bruno Moraes, also agreed on the potential of such deals, saying that these brand partnerships are “much more about experience.” Hong Kong's Gold, Commodities and Digital Asset Markets in Focus Hong Kong's position as a financial hub took centre stage at iFX EXPO Asia 2026, with a discussion covering gold, commodities, investment flows, China's influence and the growing digital asset market. The session, titled "Hong Kong, Now", brought together Bloomberg's APAC Commodities Market & Product Specialist, Lucita Ng, and Larry Poon Ka Yeung, an advisor to the Hong Kong Gold Exchange and Institute Fellow at the Asia-Pacific Institute of Business at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The discussion was designed to examine the markets and opportunities attracting attention across Hong Kong and the wider region, including developments in traditional commodities and digital assets. Are Brokers and Prop Firms Becoming One? The growing convergence between retail brokers and proprietary trading firms took centre stage at iFX EXPO Asia 2026, as industry executives explored the rise of hybrid trading businesses. Moderated by Jonathan Baumgart, CEO of Atomiq Consulting, the panel featured Shmulik (Sam) Kordova, CCO at Leverate; Danny Salman, Head of Market Research at CXM; Felix Yong, Chief Commercial Officer at MEGA FUSION GROUP; and Yuki Chan, Director of Corporate Strategy at Syphonix. The discussion focused on how brokers are increasingly adopting funded trading programmes, while prop firms are expanding their technology and infrastructure offerings. It also examined customer acquisition, revenue diversification and the challenges of scaling hybrid models across Asia, particularly around regulation, payments and technology.
