Hosur is gaining prominence as an aerospace and defence manufacturing hub in South India. As global companies expand their presence and domestic manufacturers secure international contracts, Tamil Nadu industrial town is set to play an increasing role in the aviation supply chain.
Titan Engineering bags Safran contract for LEAP engine components
Hosur based Titan Engineering and Automation Limited (TEAL), part of the Tata Group, has bagged a contract from French aerospace company Safran for the manufacturing of components for LEAP aircraft engines. The deal is an important step in enhancing India's participation in the global aerospace manufacturing supply chain.
TEAL will manufacture precision engineered transmission components used in LEAP engines, which power popular commercial aircraft such as the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX.
The LEAP engine programme is developed by CFM International, a joint venture between Safran Aircraft Engines and GE Aerospace. The deal underlines Hosur's growing capabilities in high precision aerospace manufacturing, and its potential to attract further international contracts.
Rolls-Royce, HAL and Hical expand aerospace manufacturing in Hosur: Hosur is attracting investments into advanced aerospace manufacturing. Major companies are expanding their production capabilities.
Rolls-Royce-HAL joint venture : International Aerospace Manufacturing Private Limited (IAMPL), a 50:50 joint venture between Rolls-Royce and HAL, has launched the inauguration of an expanded 12-acre manufacturing facility in Hosur in May 2026. The facility will ramp up production of high precision compressor and turbine components for civil and defence aerospace programmes. Rolls-Royce has also indicated its intent to raise tenfold its sourcing from India.
Hical Technologies: In July 2026, Hical broke ground on a new 160,000 sq. ft. aerospace and defence manufacturing facility in Hosur. The facility will expand its precision machining, fabrication and specialised manufacturing capabilities for international aerospace customers.
Titan Engineering and Automation Limited (TEAL): Safran has selected TEAL for the manufacturing of low-pressure turbine components for LEAP aircraft engines, with production slated to start in 2026. TEAL has also announced a long term contract with Safran for complex LEAP engine transmission components.
Together, these developments underlines Hosur's growing role in aerospace manufacturing, spanning precision engineered engine components, specialised fabrication and international supply chains.
Why are aerospace and defence companies choosing Hosur?
With its emerging industrial landscape, workforce capabilities and location close to Bengaluru, the city is drawing aerospace and defence manufacturers to Hosur. Hosur is home to around 3,000 MSMEs and the established manufacturing infrastructure caters to various sectors from automotive components to precision engineering.

Industrial base and Skilled workforce: Hosur has about 3000 MSMEs covering manufacturing and engineering and allied sectors. There are also over 700 industrial units in the automotive, aerospace, electronics and precision engineering sectors in the wider industrial belt.
Road connectivity: Hosur is located about 40 km from Bengaluru and is well connected with NH-44.Access to Airport: Hosur is well connected via NH-44 and is located around 40 kms away from Bengaluru Airport. The area also has connections with industrial and urban centres through NH-648 and NH-844. Hosur is strategically connected to three operational airports within 80 km, ensuring connectivity and supporting business travel.
Industrial infrastructure: The existing Hosur SIPCOT Industrial Estate and Shoolagiri industrial estate can be seen to have an area of 2092 acres and 989 acres respectively. The industrial areas facilitate the production processes and related supply chains. This gives the advantage to the aerospace manufacturers to avail of the existing industrial infrastructure and stay close to Bengaluru's aerospace and defence ecosystem.

How will aerospace expansion impact Hosur's real estate market?
As Hosur's industrial landscape continues to grow, it has also opened up avenues for real estate development, both in the residential and commercial sectors. Residential property prices range from ₹3,000 to ₹6,000 per sq. ft., in 2026. 2BHK rent ranges from ₹8,500-₹21,000 monthly. There are also growing investments in the industrial sector, with ESR announcing an investment of ₹600 crore to develop an 85-acre manufacturing park that has 2.1 million sq. ft. development potential. Expanded Aerospace could supplement housing and rental and industrial property demand.
Hosur vs Bengaluru: Can Hosur become a major aerospace manufacturing destination?
Hosur is set to become a complementary manufacturing destination to Bengaluru's established aerospace ecosystem. Bengaluru has a well-developed network of aerospace companies, research institutes and defence organisations, and Hosur has well-developed industrial estates and manufacturing infrastructure.
Hosur is around 40 km from Bengaluru and offers companies access to the larger pool of talent and suppliers of both cities. The aerospace activities it has been engaged in, like its Safran affiliated manufacturing operations at Titan Engineering and the development of Hical Technologies, could draw in more component manufacturers. Bengaluru, however, has an existing aerospace ecosystem that provides it with an advantage in research, engineering and specialized services; and Hosur offers an opportunity to boost manufacturing capacity and supply chain support.
Conclusion
The town is gaining strength in industry as the leading aerospace companies are adding manufacturing bases to the town. This expansion will generate employment, draw in suppliers and demand for housing and industrial facilities.
