The agreement, signed on 6 October 2026, pairs expertise with local customer access. Management says the move fits its push to become a broader mobility solutions enterprise, while the partner has set a market-share goal for the next five years.

Gabriel India and FORVIA Sign a Joint Venture to Make Car Seats in India
Gabriel India Limited, the flagship company of the ANAND Group, has signed a joint venture agreement with France-based FORVIA to build a seating business in India. Announced from Pune on 6 October 2026, the new company will be called Faurecia Anand Seating India Private Limited and will make seat frames and complete seats. FORVIA will control the venture with 50% plus one share, while Gabriel India will hold 50% less one share. The two groups have worked together since 1991, when they partnered in clean mobility. FORVIA says India is a key growth market and is aiming for roughly 10% of the seating market within five years. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals.
What the Seating Venture Means for Gabriel India
For Gabriel India, the venture takes the company well beyond shock absorbers and ride control. Seating is a new product line for the business, and it comes with a partner that already has global technology and engineering strength in the area. The ANAND Group's chairperson called the deal a natural extension of Gabriel's shift into a broader mobility solutions company. The venture also fits the company's recent pattern. In July, the board approved buying a 28.99% stake in HL Mando Anand India from its promoter, along with a 30% minus one share investment in HL Klemove India. Together, these moves show Gabriel positioning itself as the group's main vehicle for auto components.
Investors should weigh a few open points. The press release does not disclose how much Gabriel will invest, and since FORVIA will hold control, the accounting treatment of Gabriel's stake has not been spelled out. Gabriel is entering the venture from a steady base, though. Consolidated revenue rose 15.5% year on year in the June 2026 quarter, and standalone liquidity stood at Rs. 253.6 crore at the end of June. Standalone debt rose to Rs. 84.4 crore after the Anchemco business merger. The venture also builds on Gabriel's existing relationships with Indian carmakers and two-wheeler makers. The benefits will take time to show, since the deal has not yet closed and seating programmes take years to ramp up.
Financial Performance
Looking at the quarterly results of Gabriel India Limited, the company's consolidated revenue from operations increased by 15.5 percent YOY, from Rs. 1,234.36 crore in Q1 FY26 to Rs. 1,425.68 crore in Q1 FY27, and grew by 3.3 percent QoQ from Rs. 1,380.79 crore in Q4 FY26.
Gabriel India Limited generated 58 percent of its revenue from two- and three-wheeler products and 20 percent from passenger vehicle products in Q1 FY27. Commercial vehicles and railways contributed another 20 percent, with trading making up the remaining 1 percent.
In Q1 FY27, Gabriel India Limited's consolidated net profit increased by 2.5 percent YOY, reaching Rs. 108.13 crore compared to Rs. 105.45 crore during the same period last year. As compared to Q4 FY26, the net profit has decreased by 9.2 percent, from Rs. 119.04 crore.
The basic earnings per share increased by 2.0 percent and stood at Rs. 6.06 as against Rs. 5.94 recorded in the same quarter in the previous year, FY2026.
Why India's Growing Vehicle Market Supports the Move
India's auto sector is in a strong phase, and the numbers in Gabriel's latest presentation show it. According to SIAM data for April to June 2026, two-wheeler production grew 22.8% year on year, passenger vehicles grew 16.8%, and commercial vehicles grew 15.2%. Three-wheelers did even better at 39.1%. More vehicles on the road mean more demand for components such as seats, and carmakers are increasingly buying complete systems from fewer suppliers.
FORVIA describes India as one of the fastest-growing automotive markets in recent years, and its "local-for-local" approach, meaning building and sourcing within the country, matches what carmakers want. The risks are the usual ones for this sector. Vehicle demand rises and falls with the wider economy, and the safe-harbour note in Gabriel's presentation lists competition, the Indian economy and global conditions among the risks.
