Ah yes, you are correct in that LVMUY is an "unsponsored" ADR if that's what you meant by "unofficial". I think in my first response I put "sponsored" which is not correct - I had thought it was sponsored from memory. It just means LVMH is not involved in the process at all.
But the concept is the same. An entitiy will hold the actual shares. Your ADR gives you rights to the shares. You can lookup "ADR" and "ADS" if you want a deeper dive into the actual mechanics. It's probably been a good 12-15 years plus since I last researched it.
The main reason not to buy the "F" share is it has no volume/liqudity. Average volume is 5,700 shares/day compared to 426,000 for LVMUY. You could say 5 shares of LVMUY is the same as 1 share of LVMHF. But ADR will have other protections "F" shares will not have (you can research this as well - it's not anything specific to LVMH but generic terms/rules/regulations).
