Making a bet on how the market will go when Powell speaks. It’s usually quite volatile, either up or down on FOMC days. This guy picked up and won! But to be fair, I picked down both yesterday and today and I also won. Volatility is pretty exciting!

The new chairman must come from one of the other 12 members of the FOMC board.
There can be no ‘yes man’ because no one person on the FOMC board decides the rates.

probably not, not just anyone can be elevated to the position of fed chair. they need to already be an FOMC member. also the Fed chair doesn't have the final say even if Powell caved and went into the meeting like. "guys I really don't want to lose my job I say we cut rates." the other FOMC members can still block any proposed cut.

This gd idiot probably doesn't even realize that Jerome Powell is basically only the spokesman for the FOMC's decisions.
The FOMC could just as easily have a spokesperson say their decisions, but, as any knowledgeable follower of the Fed is aware, the wording and tone of their reports is of IMMENSE importance. So they leave it to the chairman himself.
Again, Jerome Powell is not the one person who makes this decision

It was a desperate move to keep the market pumping after the FOMC meeting since they didn't cut. Without this lame ass news the market would be drilling.

And Powell does not set rates himself. The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) has 12 members. Powell is the Chairman and public face, but he only has one vote.

Another volatile day in the books as Jerome Powell carried us through yet another dramatic FOMC trading session just to hear that rates are remaining unchanged, and that the Fed remains “well-positioned” with their tools to handle any challenges that may arise. Jerome said that debt is on an unsustainable path, but not an unsustainable level, so naturally the debt ceiling was lifted. The $QQQ tech index remains just shy of the 200 day moving average near 490. We need to reclaim the resistance level near 485, then the 200 day moving average, and then we can rapidly test the 500 level as resistance. Ideally we can flip the 500 level from resistance back to support in the near future to confirm the resumption of the long-term uptrend. Bulls need to hold support levels at 480 and 477, or we risk resumption of the medium-term downtrend. Trump says a big trade deal with the United Kingdom will be announced tomorrow, which has prompted an overnight spike in $QQQ of \~0.7% to \~487. Let’s see if this momentum carries over into today’s intraday session. If you watched the meeting, he said we had steady unemployment and inflation and was not currently seeing stagflation, although it was a possibility going forward. Things are dire but why make up FOMC fan-fiction
