Damned if you do or don't, however. Maybe Elon Musk can step in to bring his startup culture to a flailing piece of critical US industry.
Intel certainly is kinda too big to fail, and someone has to right that ship ASAP before America has nothing left to respond to TSMC.

Regarding investment journey and research, I've updated the FAQ section.
Regarding silver exposure, it's about conviction. If I was running a business, would I keep an upper limit on my exposure? Would I keep a stop loss, to distress sale my inventory if the price is falling? No, because generally, in a business, you'd know if what inventory you are purchasing can be sold off or not. So, it's more about conviction.
But also the fact that markets can stay irrational more than I can stay solvent. So, it's important to temper the position with real world changes. Just like in a business, if I had a business in Lahore before partition and I had to move to India, I'd do a distress sale and get out ASAP.
So, thinking and behaving like a business owner is the mindset that I feel works the best for me.

PS - Sorry if the analogies are stupid. :)

Otherwise just watched. Tomorrow there will be a lot of time out CSPs on ASTS, HOOD, NVDA, PLTR and TSLA.

Newbie here, did some research and decided Kraken would work for me. Was not prepared to have to wait 7 days EVERY TIME I DEPOSIT MONEY to be able to withdraw it.
I've heard PayPal works (the first time they make you wait 48 hours, then after that you're good to go), but I'm not a fan, and I've heard their fees are significant.
Anywhere else I can buy BTC and be able to use it ASAP?

PSLF will likely not go away for those already underway with payments. There's a chance of course. But your potential savings with PSLF are far too great not to try. Put it this way - would you pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to "get the monkey off your back" feeling to go away? I think not. See my separate comments below - you should enroll in IBR or PAYE ASAP.

I recently transferred all my assets into Vanguard from NWM for the obvious reasons after reading Bogle and J. L. Collins. Breaking up with my financial advisor has been liberating, if not a little trying, but ultimately I know I made the right decision. My plan moving forward is simple and largely based on Boglehead philosophy, a 2 or 3 fund portfolio.
I'm having trouble wrapping my head around selling off all the nonsensical funds in my taxable brokerage. The Roth and Traditional IRA seem very straight forward, sell it alloff, and buy what I want. No tax issues to worry about, I hope I'm correct here.
My concerns surrounding the taxable account:
1. How can I do this and minimize capital gains? Is the goal to match as many with capital gains to a similar amount with capital losses?
2. How do I keep track of all this when it's time to do taxes? I have never done my own up to this point, should I be working with my accountant step-by-step? Will this all be tabulated and simplified in year-end tax documents for me? At that point should I be making additional adjustments, or is it too late? It seems overwhelming to keep track of all this.
3. Is there any additional reading I should do before I try to tackle this? I'd like to get it all done quickly, but I value the idea of doing it right significantly more.
We're talking expense ratios bordering on 1% in a lot of these funds. I'm considering biting the bullet for simplicity sake, and just selling it all ASAP. Is this a bad plan?

No worries - keep in mind these are two separate things:
* [Megbabackdoor roth](https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Mega-backdoor_Roth): **convert the after-tax 401k contributions to a Roth IRA**. Ideally you'd do this ASAP each paycheck because after-tax earnings are pre-tax, so are taxable when converted. Doing it ASAP minimizes earnings therefore minimizes taxes. Once in the Roth IRA, earnings will be tax free.
* [Backdoor Roth](https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Backdoor_Roth): **make a nondeductible Trad IRA contribution, convert it immediately to a Roth IRA**. This is a way around the Roth IRA income limit. Be particularly aware of the pro rata rule ([read #5](https://www.whitecoatinvestor.com/fix-backdoor-roth-ira-screw-ups/)).
Good questions because executing it wrong can result in a tax bill

How to Handle Customs Clearance as an Individual Under DAP
You’re correct that many people import items from China for personal use without a business or EIN (Employer Identification Number). Since your power banks are gifts/promotional items not for resale, this qualifies as personal/non-commercial use, which simplifies things. No general import license is required for power banks in small quantities like this. Here’s how it typically works:
1. Shipping Method Matters: The factory will likely use a courier like DHL, FedEx, or UPS for a small batch. These carriers often act as the customs broker for DAP shipments, handling the paperwork on your behalf (for a fee, usually $20–$50 if charged). Specify to the factory that they should use a major courier and provide you with the tracking number right away.
2. What You’ll Need to Provide:
• Identification: As an individual without an EIN, you can use your Social Security Number (SSN) as the importer identification number. The carrier/broker will ask for this when they notify you of arrival (via email or phone). CBP (U.S. Customs and Border Protection) accepts SSN for informal entries on personal shipments under $2,500.
• Shipment Details: Be ready with the invoice, packing list, and description (e.g., “Power banks for personal gifts, value $500”). Include the HS code for power banks (8507.60.0020 for lithium-ion batteries) if asked—it helps with classification.
• No Broker Needed: For informal entries (which your $500 shipment qualifies for), you don’t need to hire a separate customs broker. The carrier can file it electronically.
3. The Clearance Process:
• When the shipment arrives in the U.S., the carrier will submit an informal entry to CBP.
• They’ll contact you for any missing info (like your SSN) and confirm it’s for personal use.
• If everything checks out, clearance usually takes 1–3 days. You’ll pay any fees directly to the carrier (e.g., via credit card).
• Power banks have some regulations due to lithium batteries (e.g., they must comply with UN38.3 safety standards for shipping, but the factory should handle certification on their end). CBP may inspect for safety, but for small personal quantities, issues are rare unless the items are counterfeit or hazardous.
4. Potential Costs Under DAP:
• Duties/Taxes: Currently zero under de minimis (as of August 15, 2025). If the shipment arrives after August 29, you could face:
• Base duty: ~3.4% on $500 = $17.
• Section 301 tariffs (on Chinese lithium batteries): Currently 7.5% ($37.50), but set to rise to 25% in 2026. Broader U.S.-China tariffs could add more (averages are fluctuating around 10–20% extra in 2025, per recent updates), potentially totaling $50–$100.
• VAT/sales tax: Not typically applied at import for personal use, but check your state.
• Broker/Handling Fees: $20–$50 from the carrier.
• Total Risk: If duties apply post-de minimis, it might cost $70–$150—still less than the $180 the factory wants, but with more hassle.
5. What If Things Go Wrong?
• Held at Customs: If CBP needs more info or suspects commercial intent (e.g., large quantity), provide proof it’s personal (e.g., email from factory confirming it’s for gifts). Worst case, hire a broker (~$100–$200) or abandon the shipment (but you’d lose the $500).
• Battery Restrictions: Lithium batteries can’t be shipped via air in large quantities without special handling, but for a small batch, couriers manage it. Confirm with the factory they comply with IATA rules.
• No De Minimis After Aug 29: All imports from China will require formal entry, duties, and possibly a customs bond (extra cost). Delays could increase.
Recommendation
Go for DAP if you’re comfortable providing your SSN and handling a quick call/email with the carrier—it’s straightforward for personal imports and should save you money. Contact the factory to confirm they’ll refund the DDP portion (or adjust the invoice) and ship ASAP to avoid the de minimis cutoff. If you’re worried about hassle or delays, pay the $180 for DDP peace of mind. Either way, document everything (emails, invoices) in case of disputes.
If you’re not in the U.S. (you didn’t specify), the process differs—let me know your country for

At a certain point, I genuinely don’t get why all politicians don’t disclose their trades ASAP. TEM popped an absurd amount when Nancy confirmed her position. The great ETH bottleneck this cycle is going to be staker withdrawal queues. They are getting lengthy. Cycle top will coincide with record high exit queue wait times. If you plan to sell your staked ETH, you are advised to exit ASAP or you will be stuck and won't get your ETH back until after the top.

Well, crap - I’m in the wrong one. I don’t know why I made this so hard and got it wrong. the answer was right in the name. It’s also possible I looked at a one-year chart of each and picked the “good” one 🤦‍♂️
I think I’ll move it all to the other one ASAP for starters, so I can at least be invested where I thought
