Did you not have face our Touch ID enabled on your iPhone?
iCloud access, on a protected device, should be hard to access without the PIN or unlocking.

Thank you for reminding us all that paying for a given issued ID is also an unnecessary tax

>Im not going to give some random company my ID
I would not call Revolut a "random company."
Just like Barclays, Monzo, Starling, and others - Revolut have to request for your ID as part of KYC checks to follow the UK regulations (Financial Conduct Authority).
Revolut would be fined a lot of money if they were allowing people to bypass ID checks because only criminals would do that for money laundering.

Yes, it is a tax and it’s horseshit. An ID should be free for all citizens.

Just learned that Provident Metals & JM Bullion (same company iirc) offer “as low as” pricing. Sent my drivers license and VA healthcare ID. Pretty quick to get it added. Just wanted to remind others!

I live in Peru. A PMB (primary mailbox) is an actual address you need to verify information about yourself in order to get it, and when you use it, it can be used as a residential address (for banking and stuff). It's the address on my ID. A Po box cannot provide proof of residence and can theoretically be anonymous so most institutions will refuse to use them, so if you are to put a po box on your brokerage account they would deny it, or freeze your activity until you provide them a real address.
A pmb is what most van life, traveling professionals (like company auditor contractors) and expats use. I'm from MN, so SD was easy to drive to, but from my research it's by far the easiest state to set that up in. They actually have a traveler resident application and the only qualification is that you don't reside in any other state for a certain amount of time. All you need to do is have a PMB and prove you've spent one night in SD every 4 years. I used a hotel receipt. Also no state income tax. That being said, if you want to keep a car in the US, you have to register it in SD. I sold mine.

When you go into a physical bank to open an account, in 2025, how do you think they are storing your copies of the ID?

The reality is that you need to give your ID for any bank account. Since not having a bank account is not really feasible, the question is what makes revolut different than any other bank?

That is too cool! My mom is actually considering getting the new real ID. Is that something you can accommodate at your shop? Anything to avoid a visit to the DMV.

Was meint Ihr? Ist das legal? Ist das unsinnig oder clever?

I work in IT. Microsoft has Active Directory, which is the heart of every enterprise in terms of identifies. There is no alternative, and every company has been using it for years. Now Microsoft is also expanding to the cloud (Entra ID). I’m pretty sure you will find Microsoft in every major corporation.

There's a video with Mikes Franklin on SGT report talking about silver and what was interesting to hear is that people in England are buying silver with lines stretching around the corner at their LCS. In fact, it was stated in the video people are saying "I'll take whatever you have at any price"??! Now that got me thinking, why would people living in England say that without being so price conscious? Then it hit me. DIGITAL ID! That crazy goofball, Starmer is full on digital ID. In fact, if you Google Starmer thats the first auto-fill word that comes up! This wasn't mentioned in the interview, but it makes perfect sense. Our English brethren are going underground with silver as a result of Starmer's Orwellian nightmare policies! Can't buy or sell without your digital ID? Hit the grass Starmer! We have other means!

>[u/IKnowMeNotYou](https://www.reddit.com/user/IKnowMeNotYou/) Do you have any info?
I never used them myself. I just reported what others wrote in the comment. I had a look at their price list once as the price was quite competitive, but that is about it.
I personally was unaware of the company before writing these posts, and seeing it being used by 4 users along with the smaller price tag has intrigued me.
From my perspective, it appears to be a German company along with a government issued business ID which would open a full can of worms if it turns out wrong. One could use the business ID to look them up in the German Handelsregister to see if the whole thing is set up lawfully meaning the ID matches the given personal address but beside that terms and conditions apply, I guess.

They’re legally not allowed to tell you what’s going on (which is frustrating not just for you, but for them too, since people naturally get upset).
I have some experience in FinTech, so I can list some of the most common reasons this happens:
* **Rapid money movement:** A high number of transactions, especially involving newly created accounts or crypto exchanges.
* **Financial mule behavior:** For example, did a friend ask you to use your account to receive money from someone you don’t know? Those funds often come from scams, and you might be unknowingly helping to launder money.
* **Smurfing:** Frequent small transfers just below reporting thresholds.
* **Mixing business and personal funds:** Using your personal account to receive payments from commercial activity.
* **Suspicious access patterns:** Multiple IPs or devices accessing your account, which can suggest that several people are using it.
* **KYC issues:** Something as simple as an expired ID or a mismatch in your proof of address can trigger a flag.
There are more possible reasons. It’s fine to dispute the action (for example, by asking if there are any documents you can provide to support your case), but assume your account will be closed and withdraw your funds if possible.
Also, since they didn’t freeze your account immediately, it likely means your risk score has just gone above their acceptable threshold, not necessarily that they believe you’ve done anything illegal.
