I do have Nippon and SBI small cap in my portfolio. It's more of trying to strictly follow what academic research suggests. The strategy has worked for me in Canada through ETFs so I was planning if I can replicate the success using mutual funds here.
Here in North America small cap value funds always beat small cap or small cap growth. Take VB, VBK and VBR for example. In India all small cap funds are small cap or small cap growth. I am so curious that no one has tried small cap value strategy here while it's so popular and successful in North American market!

2 different funds that are in the same category can be vastly different from each other. For example,
VBR - Vanguard Small Cap Value ETF has an average market cap of 6.8 billion
AVUV - Avantis US Small Cap Value ETF has an average market cap of 2.35 billion
Even though both are classified as small cap value, the average company size in VBR is almost 3X larger.

I have VOO VUG VIG VBR VDE VHT VBIAX
MGC VTI and a-lot of Schawb, T Rowe Price, Fidelity, Janus, and a couple other M/F that the name escapes me.
Vanguard funds with very low expenses along with Schwab would provide you with a great diversifacation.
