I became a meltie sometime around May of 2021. I had watched on WSB the actual GME squeeze take place in Jan and was jealous I hadn't known (as if I could have timed it right). I remember when it first hit $60 dollars and thought I was too late. Even though there were some comments that even at $60 dollars it was just starting. Then it hit $90 and I was SURE I was too late. And then it rose to $300+. Still, if I had bought at $60, I almost certainly would have sold at $90 thinking I had hit the jackpot, I never would have guessed it would rise to what it did. And if I had waited . . . when would I sell as it started coming down? \[Indeed I don't even buy individual stocks. I was just on WSB for entertainment. I don't even keep my own vested stock in my company. I sell and diversify. I only buy total market or s&p funds\].
By February I was totally sick of it. It ruined WSB. I moved on with my life. I had no idea GME started its own sub, indeed it had already sub slided to SuperStupid before I was aware. Then those posts started hitting the front page, and I was astonished what I was reading. I knew it seemed like nonsense and yet everyone was so sure of it, I thought I was taking crazy pills. Then I discovered meltdown, and found the adults in the room. People making sense. I've been here (though usually I just lurk) ever since, as this is my trashy entertainment. Though at times I wish I had left a long time ago, as sometimes I know I'm wasting my time, and at times we go months with no good content. I actually almost broke free in November 2021 (at the time I had already thought I had wasted too much time here, and that was now 4 years ago) but something pulled me back in, and admittedly 2022 had some peak laughs. Then I finally broke free again in mid 2024, something like one week before DFV returned.
